Many of our struggles are not signs of weakness but responses to pain, loss, and unmet emotional needs. I aim to offer a compassionate and non-judgemental space where clients feel safe enough to be understood, reconnect with themselves, and explore healing with curiosity, honesty, and self-acceptance.

I’m an EMDR-trained psychotherapist working with trauma, addiction, and the patterns that quietly organise a life. Before psychotherapy, I worked in the international art world — a way of seeing I still carry: attention to what is held in the body, what repeats, what resists language. I don’t see people as problems to fix, but as nervous systems shaped by experience. Therapy becomes a steady, boundaried space where what has been carried alone can be met, felt, and slowly reworked — until something more liveable, and more your own, begins to take shape.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and your healing journey is as individual as you are; that is why I partner with clients to tailor an approach that meets them exactly where they are, using the techniques from CBT, DBT, Schema Therapy, and Inner Child Work.

Whether you're battling mental health struggles, processing past trauma, or navigating a difficult chapter in your life, help is available; you just have to reach out. While I bring my education and extensive professional experience in mental health to my work, what I value even more is the life experience that has shaped my understanding of human resilience and healing. Wherever you are. However you are. You are welcome. Yes, sometimes we just can’t do it on our own and we need help. Therapy is one way to resource yourself to meet some of life’s challenges. Crippling anxiety, overwhelming grief, black depression are sources of deep pain and dark suffering. They can also be as a consequence of early traumatic experiences or negative beliefs we hold about ourselves. To accept where you are is the first step in healing yourself. Hi, I’m Liam and I create a safe place for you to explore your world, where I meet you with compassion and non-judgement in a confidential setting.

Dialectical Behaviour (DBT) Counsellors
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.
Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behaviour and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.
What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behaviour, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.
How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioural change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behaviour; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
