I have experience of dealing with PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-worth, grief/loss, divorce/separation, confidence, suicide ideation, OCD and stress, amongst others.
I understand the courage it takes to enter in to therapy. My initial aim is to make a connection with you. My practice is non-judgemental, confidential and safe. My belief is you have the answers, as you know your "self" best. With my support and guidance you will start to make changes and feel the benefit of change. I listen well and at times I do not answer, I simply listen so you are heard. We will discuss your issues and look at what needs you wish to have met. We will then look at your goals, figure out how to get their and find out what's stopping you right now. Along the way we will review the positive changes you are making.

People frequently experience anxiety before visiting a therapist because it can be very intimidating to discuss our most intimate thoughts and feelings with a stranger.
I aim to give clients a healing environment that is private, strictly confidential, and judgment-free so they can recognise, investigate, and ultimately address their issues. I am an integrative psychotherapist, with a BSc Honours Degree, and have a genuine empathetic personality. In addition to integrating different models and methods of theory, I use a person-centred approach that is specifically customised to address the needs and concerns of each of my clients. These include internal family systems, attachment theory, cognitive behavioural therapy, solution-focused therapy, and psychoeducation.

Perhaps you feel "stuck" in your head, constantly overthinking, or physically carrying the weight of stress and anxiety.
My practice is rooted in Mindfulness and Body-Oriented work. Rather than just "talking about" problems, we explore how they live in your nervous system. I offer Walk and Talk therapy and Nature-Based sessions across Co. Kerry, using the rhythm of movement and the outdoors to help shift perspectives and release tension naturally.

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, trauma, addiction, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, grief, or navigating a major life transition.
Although I work as an integrative therapist, my practice is grounded in a person-centred philosophy. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of the individual; however, I firmly believe that every person has an inherent capacity for growth and healing. My role is to facilitate that process, offering guidance, support, and a safe, trusting relationship

I have a small private practice where I work from a trauma informed lens. I believe that most of us carry some form of trauma within us, whether we know it or not. Confidentiality, not judging and safety are the cornerstones of the way I work.

Counselling and Psychotherapy can help with a variety of challenges - addressing difficulties in the present as well as overcoming experiences that belong to the past. A respectful and attuned therapeutic relationship I believe to be the foundation for all therapeutic work. Beside talk therapy we may use art materials to help you express yourself. Often people find that they want more life quality or that important relationships in their lives are impacted by their difficulties and want to find a way forward that feels right for them.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
