Parakletos is an ancient Greek word meaning Advocate or Helper. In my practice, it represents the therapeutic relationship—a space where you are supported, understood, and guided toward healing and self-discovery. I aim to provide a compassionate space to explore mind, body and spirit, helping you find clarity and strength in your journey. During June, July and August, I will not be seeing new clients. I will have a new schedule beginning in September. Please feel free to contact me regarding availability in September.

Stepping across the threshold of a therapist's office can be a daunting experience and there may be many reasons why we are seeking support now. Yet there is so much potential and possibility in that act. It takes courage to pause and look at something that is disturbing us, but with that enquiry can come great insight and a fuller understanding of our way of being in the world.

For many neurodivergent people, the nervous system is already stretched before anything dramatic happens. Then something does — a new job's relentless demands, a relationship slowly coming apart, a loss you couldn't shake. Other people move on. You tell yourself it wasn't a big deal. But your body doesn't get that message. Managing sensory load, masking, adapting. And then something overwhelming lands on top. The system can stay braced long after. On edge. Freezing where you didn't before. Chest tight. Sleep changed. Reacting and not sure why. It doesn't always feel like "trauma." Sometimes it just feels confusing.

My ideal client is someone who may be feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, grief, or navigating a significant life transition. They might also be exploring their identity, particularly within the LGBTQIA+ community, or learning to embrace their neurodivergence. At the heart of their struggle is a desire for understanding, acceptance, and clarity. Their goals often include building resilience, feeling more at ease in their daily lives, and developing healthier ways of relating to themselves and others. What they want most is to be truly heard and supported in a safe, non-judgemental space.

I am a professional psychotherapist working primarily with young people aged 13 to 25, a time of immense potential, deep vulnerability, and significant growth marked by unique and often overwhelming challenges. Adolescence and early adulthood bring rapid and often confusing changes emotionally, socially, and psychologically. Many young people I see come feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck, trying to make sense of complex feelings and difficult experiences. Some are unsure why they feel disconnected or low in mood; others find it hard to cope or find direction. I offer a safe space to support young people through these challenges.

You promised you would not watch online porn or live sex cams again. You feel guilt and shame because you want to stop but cant. You visited a sex worker during lockdown and now you are worried you might have put the health of your family at risk. You plan to spend a short time on dating apps and find yourself spending hours on them, unable to put them down, feeling desperate and hopeless. You have an instant attraction when you meet a particular type of person, believing they are the one. You are in recovery for alcohol / drug addiction, but your compulsive sexual acting out behaviours have increased and you feel guilt and shame.

You're a senior leader, a high performer, on paper successful but something's off. You're second-guessing decisions you used to make easily. You feel like an imposter in rooms where you clearly belong. Your role changed and suddenly you don't know what defines you anymore. Or you're at a career crossroads and can't figure out which direction to take or why any of it matters. You are missing clarity and want to understand why smart choices feel so hard. You want to know what patterns keep showing up and what you're actually afraid of. You want to see yourself clearly so you can move forward with confidence.

FAQ - Therapist Gender
As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?
There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?
Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?
Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with therapists of a specific gender. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?
Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
