Do you find yourself doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results? I believe in providing a confidential and compassionate space for my clients. A non-judgemental space which allows you to explore your thoughts, feelings and to begin to understand why you may be reacting or behaving in a certain way. Your life does not have to be dictated by your past or recurring problematic behaviours. Together, we will identify the root cause and triggers of these behaviours, and explore new ways of addressing them for positive changes to occur in your life. Change is possible, it begins with the first step.

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed and unable to focus? Feeling worried, struggling with the world today. Recovery is possible - I use Trauma Informed Care, EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I focus on working with clients struggling with Anxiety, Stress, Depression, Trauma and Unresolved Childhood Issues. When I first meet with a client, we discuss what has brought them to therapy. With this information we discuss how we will work with together. The first session with any new client is to assess if we can work together and if the client feels comfortable with continuing the therapeutic process.

You're story matters here. I provide a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges at a pace that feels right for them. I view therapy as a space for both healing and empowerment — an opportunity to reconnect with one’s own inner strength, clarity, and self-trust. We start to relate to ourselves not just from the perspective of our wounds, fears, or learned patterns, but from a deeper presence within — one that is spacious, curious and unconditionally accepting. My interest in psychotherapy, spirituality and meditation began after the end of my marriage several years ago, which like many other types of losses, triggered a lot of suffering. Life transition, family and friends losses, the breakup of long-term relationships, stress, anxiety and depression are all part of human suffering. However, we have an innate capability, which we can strengthen, that allows us to navigate and, more importantly, learn from our most difficult life experiences.

Kalffian/Jungian Sandplay is a non- verbal and powerful modality suitable for clients of all ages. Working with symbols and sand, in the presence of a trained and competent therapist, clients can access areas of the unconscious deeply and effectively. Adults who are looking for an alternative to talk therapy or prefer more creative and symbolic mediums to explore their issues will find sandplay a uniquely effective experience. Jungian Sandplay can also be used in CPD requirements for practicing mental health professionals, psychologists, play therapists, counsellors, psychotherapists and others.

I am an Integrative therapist, drawing from many approaches and techniques, as I am a firm believer that one size does not fit all. In practice, this means that I meet the client on the day, in the room, in the moment. I work with adult clients and with adolescent clients of 12 years and older, in person and online. I do not prescribe a number of sessions as I believe that therapy should continue for as long or as short a period of time as is therapeutically beneficial for the client. I am very happy to have informal contact by phone or email to explore if I can be of help to you.

I work empathically with my clients. Sessions are completely confidential. I work very well with clients who suffer from anxiety and depression. My speciality is my inner child work. This is a very powerful therapy. I can bring the client back in a safe way to a traumatic experience. Sometimes, I will combine this therapy with music. The client may experience the trauma through feelings in the body, this therapy answers for the client why they feel the way they do in their body. By unlocking those feelings healing may begin. It can help a client to become more confident and as a result they begin to uncover their true self's.

I treat a variety of common mental health difficulties and life challenges (e.g. mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, PTSD, complex trauma, relationships issues, stress, low self-esteem, perfectionist traits). Some people aren’t quite sure what’s going on for them, but something just doesn’t feel right. Whatever your struggle is, I want to help you to get your life on track, break out of unhelpful patterns of behaviour, and find meaning and satisfaction in life. I can offer you a safe and non-judgmental space to explore what it is that’s causing you difficulty, and an evidence-based approach to help you to finally move forward.

Adolescents are developing and so are their emotions. Adolescents bring wonder, curiosity and energy. Yet their world is challenging, demanding and anxiety provoking as they navigate choices, dilemmas and obstacles. Families are part of this journey as they try and support and understand their developing teen. Silence, low mood and irritability often leave them confused and upset and parents struggling to know how to help. Anxiety can become a major challenge I support them to understand this journey called adolescence, focus on coping strategies and consult with parents so that the wish for happiness can become possible.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counselling

How can I find a therapist in Monivea?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, eircode, or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or eircode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are accredited members of the main professional associations, mainly the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (ICP). Most Psychologists are accredited members of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement in Ireland, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Ireland. Psychologists have earned a doctoral degree in psychology and many are accredited members of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a doctoral degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the IACP or ICP, they must complete a minimum of an NFQ Level 7 programme with 100 hours of clinical experience and a minimum of 450 hours of post-training clinical experience under clinical supervision.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in Ireland could cost between €50 – €90 when seeing a counsellor and €75 - €120 or more when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The National Counselling Service (NCS) is a government-funded service that provides short to medium term counselling and psychotherapy for free to individuals who have experienced trauma or abuse. The service can be accessed by GP referral or self-referral.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your eircode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the IACP, the ICP, or PSI are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others or when a child is in danger, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
