Drawing from diverse schools of thought such as psychodynamic, humanistic, relational and existential therapies, among others...
Maybe you're feeling the weight of loss, trying to make sense of a relationship, or dealing with the pressures of always having to "be on" or appear "perfect." My clients are often navigating the ups and downs of relationships, struggling with burdensome patterns, questioning their sense of self, or simply feeling like something’s missing. Whatever brought you here, know that it’s a meaningful step.

I work in an integrative manner, and my approach is primarily attachment-informed, psychodynamic and humanistic in nature.
Stepping across the threshold of a therapist's office can be a daunting experience and there may be many reasons why we are seeking support now. Yet there is so much potential and possibility in that act. It takes courage to pause and look at something that is disturbing us, but with that enquiry can come great insight and a fuller understanding of our way of being in the world.

In therapy I utilize a humanistic and psychodynamic approach to help clients overcome the challenges they experience in a safe and judgement free space.
Being open to attend therapy is a brave step and is one to be acknowledged in strength. The sessions will go at the pace of the client and their decisions on what they want to bring to each session will be respected. I as a therapist will not ask about a topic the client is not yet ready to open but the space will be there for them when they are ready.

Trained in humanistic, psychodynamic & ACT therapy, I offer a compassionate & evidence-based support to empower clients' healing.
My interest in psychotherapy, spirituality and meditation began after the end of my marriage several years ago, which like many other types of losses, triggered a lot of suffering. Life transition, family and friends losses, the breakup of long-term relationships, stress, anxiety and depression are all part of human suffering. However, we have an innate capability, which we can strengthen, that allows us to navigate and, more importantly, learn from our most difficult life experiences.

I mainly utilize an expressive psychodynamic framework, drawing from humanistic, somatic, transpersonal and systemic approaches.
Healing isn't about fixing you, it's about discovering you were never broken. Step into a space where your emotions find their voice. Your expression finds it's freedom. Your past finds understanding and your future finds possibility. I specialize in trauma recovery, particularly PTSD/CPTSD & some of the ways it can manifest. Including recovering from narcissistic abuse, addiction, attachment issues, anxiety, depression & poor self-esteem. Together we can uncover unhelpful and harmful patterns/beliefs and unlock self-loving ways of being. Healing deep seated wounds, embracing the inner child and adult-self with love and compassion.

Therapy also provides a space where you can come to deepen your understanding of yourself which in turn can strengthen your relationships and enhance your life experience. I am a professionally qualified counsellor and psychotherapist with an honours degree in Holistic Counselling & Psychotherapy.

My practice is trauma informed, body focused, mindfulness based, psychodynamic therapy.
I can help with many different issues as most of them stem from the same problem, repressed emotions. So whether it's addiction or relationship issues, the process in therapy is about reconnecting with the body and releasing those repressed emotions.

Psychodynamic Counsellors

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
