As a trained Couples therapist, I create a safe harbor where both partners (even with friends/family) can be heard.
Do you feel alone and unsupported in your attempts to overcome old ways of coping? Do you struggle to improve relationships or understand yourself better? Do you get overwhelmed or disillusioned in the process? Maybe you've been coming up against the same old stuff over and over - 'this must be just the way I am'.
Do you want to feel safe in yourself, calm your racing mind, trust your inner sense of knowing and relate to others in a calm, grounded way - this is real, possible change. It takes courage, yet you don’t need to walk alone. Together, we’ll explore what’s happening, with clarity and empathy for where you are right now.

For me, one of the most significant parts of therapy lies in the therapeutic relationship and I believes the magic starts happening when we begin to feel security and trust in the relationship with our therapist.
You may be looking for some sort of change in your life. That change could be physical or emotional. My work is based on the belief that if we want to create change in our lives, we must look within. To find out who we really are, we need to go inwards, challenge old beliefs, thoughts and behaviours, which can feel like moving away from everything we’ve ever known. I help my clients to see the connections between mind and body, to identify unhelpful patterns, establish new habits and ultimately live a happier life.

I'm here to give you tools and resources to help you live better. As a licensed therapist, my job is to provide 2 services: Help you resolve an immediate problem, e.g., a relationship break-up or a life transition - such as becoming an expat. The second service - sometimes the more important service - is to help you learn how, what to do and why this challenge was presented to you. My job is to work myself out of a job because I helped you improve your like skill level and increased your knowledge of yourself.

Having worked in Cuan Mhuire Galway and Let’s Get Talking Galway, I found that most clients presented with having experienced some form of trauma, loss, anxiety or depression. Substance abuse and behavioural addiction can became a coping mechanism that makes matters worse, instead of better.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
