Sandra strives to create a therapeutic environment grounded in empathy while clients embark on their journey of self-exploration and personal growth. Her approach to psychotherapy is rooted in the integration of person-centred and psychoanalytic approaches. She is mindful that each client is unique and tailors her therapeutic approach accordingly by incorporating, for example, CBT, Schema therapy and somatic techniques. So often with symptoms of anxiety and depression, vagus nerve dysregulation is an unseen enemy and Sandra uses the principles of polyvagal theory to help clients become more grounded and centred in the body.

I am a psychotherapist based in private practice in D24. I like to use an integration of interventions to help clients explore and cope with problems. I’m a qualified Breathwork Teacher and I’m also qualified in a form of psychotherapy called the Energy Therapy Technique. This explores breaking through trauma and emotions that are stored in the body and making you feel stuck in areas of your life. I believe that the mind and body are deeply entwined and I’m passionate about combining holistic and somatic approaches with psychotherapy.

I work with young people, individual adults and couples. At our initial consultation, I have two objectives: to assess whether we can work together as therapist and client, and also to assess what is the appropriate therapy to offer you. Therapy is work. I offer a carefully-bounded confidential space in which to speak of anxiety, depression, hopes and dreams. My principal mode of working is a talking therapy but where appropriate I may recommend coping strategies (e.g. for panic attacks) and psycho-education (e.g. books or podcasts). In return I expect you to attend weekly, speak freely, and pay promptly.

I love supporting people on their journey to better understand themselves and the root of their present difficulties; helping them discover who they are beyond who they have learned to be through their life experiences and environment. It can feel a bit daunting or even scary starting or resuming therapy so I focus on creating a space that is warm and safe, to help you feel more comfortable figuring out what's troubling you and unpacking your feelings, thoughts and experiences.

I speak English, German, Lithuanian & Russian. I specialize in being open minded! I encourage my clients to talk about everything. Intimacy, Sexuality, Trauma, Addiction. Their relationship with themselves and the world (a lot can be learned from daily patterns and behaviours), deepest fears, things they wish they had never done and equally, dreams, goals, and ambitions. The Therapeutic space is your sanctuary to be yourself, whether you’re hurting, feeling lost and fragile or just are curious to learn more about yourself. The goal is not to change you entirely but to work on updating your current self to become your best self.

Hi, I'm Keelin, a qualified psychologist and life coach. When I'm not in sessions, you'll find me swimming or going for walks with my beloved dog, Artie. When I started my career as a newly-graduated psychologist back in 2013, I soon discovered that most of my clients were expressing a significant degree of dissatisfaction in life; anxiety, stress and low self-worth were widespread. I strongly related to their struggles because I was experiencing similar myself. After a decade of engaging in my own healing, I discovered ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and fell in love with it.

Attachment-based Counsellors

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioural Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
