Many of the people I work with have spent years trying to “fix” themselves through self help, overthinking, people pleasing or constantly analysing their past, yet still feel emotionally stuck.
I help people understand the deeper patterns driving anxiety, relationships, emotional overwhelm and repeated cycles that keep showing up in their lives.
My work combines psychotherapy, psychoeducation, nervous system awareness and emotional processing to help people move beyond simply talking about their experiences and begin integrating real change.

As a therapist, I will offer a safe place where you can explore your issues and begin to understand your reactions to situations. With this understanding can come power, control and ultimately change. This will be a journey we take together with acceptance, curiosity and understanding.

People who come to therapy want to make changes in their life. At some time we will all face circumstances which challenge our resilience: illness; bereavement and mortality; depression and anxiety; trauma and violence; relationship problems; career difficulties; loss of identity; spiritual crisis. When difficult experiences leave us feeling helpless and stuck, the work of self-exploration opens new doors of possibility.

I work with couples and individuals. Face to face work is possible in Clontarf on Wednesdays & Thursdays. I also see clients on Zoom on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. My times on these days include mornings, afternoon and evenings. I offer an initial brief fee free contact - I use this initial meeting for me to get some sense of what you want to achieve and for you to ask any questions you may have. If we decide to proceed with working together, I agree a short series of meetings before we review our work together - we may then decide that what has been achieved is sufficient or continue for a further series of sessions.

In a few words, I identify as autistic, non-binary, queer, a video game fanatic, and occasionally an alternative drag/cabaret performer. My approach in counselling is guided by the idea that the main healing factor in any therapeutic process is the attunement between the counsellor and the client. I strive to be honest and authentic in my practice, while maintaining healthy boundaries, and I understand that the best counsellor for you is the one that is on the same wavelength as you, the one that just intuitively feels right.

You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, lonely, stressed or like you've lost your spark. You may be struggling to make the changes, grappling with self-doubt, or feeling disconnected from yourself or others. For others, therapy begins following relationship difficulties, grief, life transitions, self-esteem issues, substance misuse or addiction. Sometimes, it's simply a feeling that something isn't quite right, even if you can't yet put it into words. I have 8 years of experience in mental-health and addiction services, and have worked extensively with individuals and their families affected by problematic alcohol use.

Spirituality Counsellors
What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?
Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.
What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?
There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviours. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualisation, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.
Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?
Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.
How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?
Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
