I offer clients experiencing Anxiety, Relationship Issues, Low Self-Esteem, and Depression a safe non-judgmental and heart-centred space. I help them to unpack at their own pace that which is causing them unease. Sessions which are 1 hour long are held weekly or fortnightly depending on your individual needs and desires. My work aims to put your needs at the heart of the session while I support you and help you to reclaim that part of you that could be living a life that is more fulfilling and indeed more purposeful.

Many persons seek a trustworthy and professional relationship to unravel elevated stressors and adverse experiences that results in lowered self-esteem, creates shame, and stigma. Some persons initially struggle to articulate why they feel so stressed and they often report interpersonal conflict and defensiveness leading to aloneness and sadness. People want to be happier and want to lead more contented and joyful lives. People want to be recognised as worthy. They want their lives to possess meaningfulness. They seek purpose and want to be generative. They want to feel significant in other people's lives. They want to trust.

Throughout life, many people encounter hardships, emotional distress and anxieties. This can often lead people to become depressed, withdrawn in their relationships, experience low self-esteem, stuck, addicted and ultimately further away from the life they want to live. When we are struggling, we can find it difficult to discover a path towards a fulfilling life. Does any of this sound familiar?

If you are feeling anxious, confused, depressed, unfulfilled, or are trying to adjust to a life change, therapy is a good choice. These feelings don't have to last forever. I work with people who are experiencing low self-esteem, relationship or family issues, sadness, body image or eating disorders, sexual issues, bereavement and trauma. Therapy is useful in creating a personal sanctuary where you can take time to reflect and understand the reasoning behind the decisions you have made, and for facilitating change in your life. In this process, I can help you see how the past is impacting the present and how you can get passed this.

From my perspective, psychotherapy means healing. It is the opening, where individuals begin to experience a more full contact with themselves and the outside world. I help them understand their emotions that signpost their needs. I help them to discover their unfulfilled needs and, together, we look for obstacles and barriers that could prevent people from fully enjoying their lives. One step at a time, they become increasingly ready to lead their lives consciously. They begin to authentically live, rather than continue, their lives.

Using Cognitive and Body Based methods, I seek to bring stability to the body and mind, alleviating symptoms such as anxiety and panic, low
self esteem
, unresolved trauma, destructive choices, behaviours and relationships.
With the wide skill set of an Integrative Therapist, I find that organically, talking therapy and body based therapies harmonise in the therapy room where clients get to talk, to name emotions, to feel them emotionally and to break down their physicality, demystifying responses, such as anxiety, and aiding the regaining of personal autonomy and full participation in life. Some clients are top down, and others are bottom up, and recognising this in how I work with each individual client is essential.

Source Counselling & Psychotherapy is founded on the belief that within you is a source of happiness, inner strength and resiliency that can enable you to deal with the pressures and struggles life can present. It is from these many sources that greater understanding of who you are emerges, a key factor in finding ways to deal with issues and problems you experience. Exploring your issues can provide you with a deeper awareness and understanding of the cause of these problems - the source. Knowing the source of a problem is only part of the work.

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
