Gestalt
and CBT as appropriate for the client's needs.
I help clients work through issues such as coping with anxiety, depression, grief, anger, self-esteem and relationship problems. Bringing a warm, non-judgmental space I can help you to explore whatever issue you bring to therapy. I tailor my approach to your needs using my training in a number of models of therapy. I help you to delve deeper into the root cause of whatever you are struggling with so that you can reach a greater depth of understanding and connection with your self. You can then bring this knowledge and awareness into your life so that you are better able to manage yourself whatever obstacles come up in your life.

I work from an integrative humanistic approach, utilising, Trauma informed carPerson Centred Therapy, Existential Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and
Gestalt
Therapy.
People sometimes experience difficulties in life and may need a little extra help and support. This is where I come in, as sometimes it can be easier to talk to a professional about your problems or worries than it is to talk with your family or friends. My aim is to respect and support you through your counselling journey while acknowledging and exploring whatever may arise during a session and work through the issue in a non judgmental safe therapeutic space.

Approaches include
Gestalt
, Transactional Analysis (Life Scripts), psychodynamic, relational psychoanalytic approach, attachment theory, trauma-informed, object relations, person-centred, choice/reality therapy, emotion-focused, body work/somatic therapy.
Psychotherapy can be viewed as a corrective emotional experience, in which the client is facilitated to unlock their innate wisdom and ability to heal themselves through the medium of the therapeutic relationship. The Humanistic/Integrative approach I use gains strength from theory, research, and feedback from ongoing practice. With theory as a soft focus, we'll explore thoughts and emotions with a sense of curiosity, creativity, and freedom within the therapeutic relationship. This relational way of practicing psychotherapy provides the client with a safe space in order to develop and change.

Therapy is food for the soul ! You can disclose what you feel comfortable talking about at your own pace in a confidential, safe, private space. Many people come to therapy to help with current struggles or past experiences, but many also attend just to maintain a good mindset. Each person’s life experience is different and as we know sometimes it can be challenging, therefore talking can help to clear our minds, uncover our struggles, and understand our emotions. Therapy can be challenging, but it can also be very rewarding. Everyone deserves to be heard and supported. Looking forward to meeting you :)

Well done! If your looking here, consider you have made a brave move towards reaching out for guidance and support. Whatever it is that's troubling you or leaving you stuck in life, always remember there is a solution for everything. Only you have the answers to be explored with my help. Life presents us with many challenges, more for some than others, the trick is to move through these and come out the other side. We learn from the lessons received through hardship and how we cope through them makes us stronger people. Fear, loss, depression, anxiety keep us stuck, life's too short not to do something about it and move on...

From my perspective, psychotherapy means healing. It is the opening, where individuals begin to experience a more full contact with themselves and the outside world. I help them understand their emotions that signpost their needs. I help them to discover their unfulfilled needs and, together, we look for obstacles and barriers that could prevent people from fully enjoying their lives. One step at a time, they become increasingly ready to lead their lives consciously. They begin to authentically live, rather than continue, their lives.

What is gestalt therapy?
Gestalt therapy is based on the idea that to address unresolved negative feelings, emotions must be not only discussed but also actively expressed in the present moment. The term is from a German word meaning “whole,” and gestalt therapists believe that people should be considered whole entities made up of mind, body, and emotions. Gestalt sessions are rooted in the notion that a client’s total self must be discovered, explored, and confronted, so that they can take greater responsibility for themselves and their behaviour, learn to satisfy their own needs while still respecting the needs of others, and reconnect with feelings they might otherwise deny.
How does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy sessions do not just involve talking with a therapist. Clients may take part in role-playing, re-enactment, or artistic exercises like drawing and painting, with the goal of becoming more aware of negative thought patterns that limit happiness. One common gestalt exercise is “the empty chair,” in which a client sits across from an empty chair representing a partner, relative, boss, or a part of themselves—and, with the therapist’s encouragement, improvises a dialog with it. The intention is to bring the emotions raised by past conflicts into the present and work through them in the moment.
How long does gestalt therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for gestalt therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. New patients should understand that it may take some time to become comfortable with gestalt exercises but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions.
Does gestalt therapy work?
Gestalt therapy has generally been found to be as effective as other forms of talk therapy in helping people living with anxiety, depression, phobias, bipolar disorder, and substance use disorders, as well as helping individuals reduce conflict in relationships. Gestalt techniques, on their own or in combination with other therapies, can also be effective in managing physical ailments including ulcerative colitis, migraines, and back spasms. It should be noted that some people may have trouble adapting to gestalt therapy’s lack of formal structure or to a therapist’s close observations of their body language and emotions; others may struggle to commit to techniques that feel unnatural, like the empty chair exercise.
