Some people like face-to-face sessions, while others prefer doing therapy online from a more familiar space of their own. We can discuss your personal preference when you get in touch. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Is anxiety leaving you exhausted, yet you're unable to sleep? Are you finding it hard to feel excited about anything right now or are you feeling stressed trying to fit everything and everyone into your free time? Perhaps things haven’t really worked out the way you hoped, and you are carrying a deep disappointment. Maybe you have lost someone or something who meant a lot to you and you are unsure how to adapt to your new circumstances. If so, I would love to support you through these struggles. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we would work together to achieve your goals for counselling.

Sometimes, what we experience in life could feel like a difficult path or challenging situations. Those occurrences may feel distressing when there is no one to speak to and be heard by. In my practice, the central aim is to listen to your story. It is by listening that I grasp what is spoken through your unconscious: slips of the tongue, motives behind forgetting, recurring dreams. Although these may occur for everyone at any time, in my practice, you will have a space to tell your story and recognise where difficulties come from.

Are you feeling weighed down by overwhelming thoughts and emotions? Perhaps you’re struggling to focus, wrestling with procrastination, or finding it hard to make decisions. Racing thoughts, self-doubt, and a lack of confidence may be keeping you stuck in a cycle of negativity. Maybe you’re questioning your sense of purpose, feeling anxious, tense, or even emotionally distant. Or perhaps you’re coping with grief, enduring physical symptoms like headaches or body pain, or having trouble finding restful sleep. If any of this feels familiar, know that you don’t have to be on your own in navigating any of these issues. Support is here.

You might be facing a major change, whether anticipated or unexpected - becoming a parent, going through breakup, adjusting to a new culture, or questioning your sense of self. You may feel stuck or overwhelmed. Many people I work with want to feel more at ease with themselves, even if they’re not sure how. Together we can move toward greater clarity, acceptance, and confidence, so you can live with more freedom to be who you are - welcoming your quirks, contradictions and all the parts of you that don’t always make sense, but still belong.

I work with children and adults. As an Art Psychotherapist, I'll use art as a medium to enable clients to communicate in a safe environment and to help them reflect on emotional issues and gain confidence and self-awareness. I use a client centred approach and therefore I would use a variety of treatments to help the client in their therapeutic journey. I am also a qualified EMDR therapist, specialising in TRAUMA. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

Seeking help can be unsettling and change can take time. I work with clients once to three times weekly, providing a private, supportive space to talk, reflect and explore. My approach is psychoanalytic which enables the expression of unconscious factors behind our thought, behaviour and relationship patterns. I have a particular interest in disordered eating. Regular psychotherapy sessions facilitate a close therapeutic relationship fostering lasting self-understanding, agency and change.

If you’ve found your way here, perhaps it’s because something within you is ready for change — or simply to be heard. Whatever brings you, I want you to know that your feelings are valid, and you’re exactly where you need to be. My intention is to offer you a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can gently explore what’s going on for you — at your own pace, in your own words. You don’t need to have everything figured out. If something feels heavy, uncertain, or out of balance, that’s more than enough reason to reach out.

Life is not always smooth and can present us with situations, some more difficult than others. Some of these situations can be sorted with the help of friends and family and others may need the help of a professional. As a therapist it is my belief that all clients are individual and so my service will be tailored to the individual needs of each client. My work is to help the clients better understand what their needs are and assist in the changes the client wants to make in order to meet these needs. Counselling is a collaborative process where I will assist each client to set goals and work with them in order to achieve these.

I believe in providing a safe space for clients where they are met with compassion and nonjudgement. I feel that the client possesses the inner resources within themselves to move through difficult experiences but may need support in facilitating this process through therapy. I believe in meeting the client where they are at and I tailor my therapeutic approach depending on the client’s needs. I am particularly passionate about issues relating to sex, gender and cultural issues as well as self-development and awareness.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
