People can experience difficulties or challenges at any point in their lives, such as anxiety, low mood and trauma. At other times, life events like bereavement, the ending of a relationship or unexpected illness can make people feel upset, distressed and confused. The help and support of a clinical psychologist can help ease these painful feelings and work towards adjustment and an improved sense of well-being. If the source of the difficulties are not obvious at first, a psychological assessment can also be helpful.

I use Gestalt, EMDR, CBT, and Psychoanalysis to treat stress, anxiety, PTSD, and sexual trauma.
Therapy for Conscious Change. Speed matters, but quality of life is defined by self-understanding. If you seek a professional guide who values your time and readiness for transformation over just a "chat" - you are in the right place. I believe no situation is unsolvable; there are only paths yet to be paved. I am Andriy Mazurenko, an integrative psychotherapist and sexologist. I balance swift, issue-specific work with deep, long-term therapy. Avoiding "one-size-fits-all" templates, I combine tools to suit your individual dynamics and explore the foundations of your personality.

I use EMDR/Sensorimotor Psychotherapy to explore what issues in the present have links to the past in order to understand beliefs, triggers and responses.
Psychotherapist based in Dublin 7 working with anxiety, attachment, and trauma. Are you a 'people pleaser' and find it hard to say no or assert boundaries? Do you get easily overwhelmed by strong emotions? Do you often look to others for validation, not knowing or trusting what you think or feel yourself? Do you feel lonely, sad, anxious, or that reminders of past keep surfacing in the present? Are you in a couple, having the same arguments repeatedly, often feeling hopeless? Counselling is a place to explore and understand. I will be there to support, listen, notice, and gently challenge at times.

EMDR Counsellors
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimising its ability to trigger anxiety.
