Having genes for a mental illness is less than half of the story. Exposure to traumas is the essential other part that causes a disturbance in transmitters and hormones in the body. My clients contact me when they are looking for help for reducing psychiatric medications or before taking them. My experience and training involves helping a client process their traumas to heal them emotionally and with food supplements following Walsh protocol. In this format, food supplements are prescribed instead of psychotropic medications that participate in hormonal and neurotransmitter metabolism. I can speak English, Hindi/ Urdu and Punjabi.

Most of us are very good at bottling up how we are really feeling, this can serve us in the short term but sometimes these suppressed feelings will express themselves in more destructive ways such as explosive anger, frustration, depression, anxiety, self-harm and even physical illness. I will work with you to gently allow suppressed feelings emerge so they can be explored, understood and given the attention and kindness they deserve. I work indoors, online and outdoors in nature; where ever we decide to work I will create a comfortable, safe and held space where you can talk about and begin to heal whatever is going on for you.

When something in your life is not how you'd like it to be, or when you're looking for help and support for something that you're going through; perhaps a life event, a particular concern or maybe problems with relationships, at home, in school or at work. Maybe you are experiencing feelings of anxiety, frustration, fear, sadness or other emotions. Stress can be a part of this. Counselling can help you to better understand what might be going on for you, and to find ways to effectively manage feelings, thoughts or worries. My experience is that clients come to counselling because they want something in their life to be different.

I work as an art therapist with children, teenagers and adults in educational settings and in mental health services, using art to support individuals to express their feelings and thoughts. Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses the medium of art to enable people of all ages to access feelings and thoughts that may be difficult to be expressed with words. I adopt a person-centred approach in which I value the uniqueness of each individual and their abilities, in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space. I speak English and Italian.

Life can cause us some worries, some big, mostly small but occasionally these worries can overwhelm us and talking to a counsellor can help. I offer a safe and non-judgemental space to talk in confidence about what issues may be causing stress or anxiety in your life. I provide a warm, open, and empathic environment in which to explore personal difficulties and work together to identify coping mechanisms for you in order to find a better way of living.

I believe that creating a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to explore what's happening for them is fundamental to therapy. I think part of this is clients finding a therapist that feels like rhe right fit for them. I see each client as unique, with different needs and so I work flexibly focusing on responding to each individual client in the way that best works for them. I work to enable clients to reconnect with themselves with the support and guidance they need to gain more understanding around their experience and find ways to navigate challenges that work for them as a person.

I work with adults and adolescents who have experienced trauma or suffer with anxiety-related issues such as panic attacks, phobias and so on. I believe that with counselling your quality of life really can improve. Trauma can include life-threatening events or simply moments where you were overwhelmed and felt helpless. Trauma is often held in your body and strongly affects how you think, behave, react and feel. Together we find the right tools for you to better manage your feelings, thoughts and behaviours. Then we work through the issues gently and carefully.

Hi, I am very much a Person-Centred / Humanistic Counsellor who allows the client to explore their issues and find their own way forward. I believe that sometimes we just need to stop and breath and allow ourselves the space to explore what’s next for us. I understand that counselling is not a 'one size fits all' process so I work on an integrated basis with the client to explore the therapies that will work for them. I have a special interest in bereavement as I have been working with clients who have lost loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic. My own history of loss has helped me a great deal in this area.

From my perspective, psychotherapy means healing. It is the opening, where individuals begin to experience a more full contact with themselves and the outside world. I help them understand their emotions that signpost their needs. I help them to discover their unfulfilled needs and, together, we look for obstacles and barriers that could prevent people from fully enjoying their lives. One step at a time, they become increasingly ready to lead their lives consciously. They begin to authentically live, rather than continue, their lives.

How can I find a therapist in Dublin?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
