You may be carrying more than you realise: the weight of expectations, the pressure to hold everything together, the impact of past experiences that still echo today, or the strain of relationships that feel stuck or overwhelming. You might feel a loss of clarity, identity, or purpose, or simply notice that coping alone no longer feels possible. If any of this resonates, you’re in the right place.
I am a systemic psychotherapist supporting individuals, couples, and families to make sense of their experiences within the wider contexts of culture, identity, relationships, trauma, and life transitions.

Many of the people I work with come to me feeling overwhelmed, fearful, stuck, or like they’ve lost a sense of who they are. Maybe things that used to feel manageable now feel like too much. Maybe you're finding it harder to get through the day, to connect with others, or even with yourself. You might not be able to pinpoint exactly what's changed, but you know something just feels off. If you're here, you’ve already taken a courageous first step...even if it doesn’t feel like it yet. Starting therapy can feel daunting, especially if you're used to coping alone or fear that asking for support means something is “wrong” with you.

Psychotherapy is about a person journey in discovering who they really are. And what they would like to change. Whatever you are experiencing: a mental health condition, a significant life event, or are interested in personal growth, the therapeutic relationship is the agent of change. Helping individuals to understand themselves better, and showing them how to ask the right questions, is the path to change.

Feeling low, anxious, over-analyzing, being detached, feeling lost, feeling guilty, having a strong critical voice, having relationship problems, being told you are over-sensitive-these are all issues we can look at in-depth. You may have a diagnosis but it is usually much more helpful to look at a formulation or map of your difficulties.
I am passionate about working with people who want to really understand what is contributing to their difficulties, and want to engage in experiential work to deeply address these. I specialise in Schema Therapy as it not only seeks to bring deep understanding, but also deep healing.

Maybe you feel constantly on edge. Maybe you overthink conversations long after they’ve ended. Perhaps you’re exhausted from carrying guilt, shame, or a sense that you “should be over it by now". You might have gone through a difficult experience, childbirth, a medical event, a relationship breakdown, grief, addiction or something you can’t quite name and since then, you haven’t felt like yourself.
You don’t necessarily want a label. You just want to understand what’s happening

What is the most successful approach to treating bipolar disorder?
Living with bipolar disorder can be challenging, and a number of therapies have been found effective in providing support to patients as they gain the skills to understand and manage the disorder. Family-focused therapy is often helpful for children and teens (the majority of cases develop before age 19); it aims to minimize mood cycling by improving family communication and reducing conflict. It also helps young people navigate the developmental challenges the disorder can create. Cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) and variants such as Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT)help patients manage the thoughts and feelings that influence bipolar mood swings as well as develop specific behavioral strategies to counteract them.
What happens in therapy for bipolar disorder?
Because the patterns of mood switching and its triggers differ for each person and can change over time, mood tracking or monitoring becomes a basic way patients learn about the nature of their condition. One of the most common features of therapy is finding a workable method of mood monitoring, in which patients track their daily activities and rate their moods, then use the findings to adjust routines accordingly. Patients learn ways of handling the many stresses that arise in life so that they do not trigger mood swings.
What kinds of problems does therapy help with?
Like many other mental health disorders, BPD is heavily influenced by stress; therapy provides skills for coping with stressors of all kinds. Therapy is extremely important for helping individuals identify the situations that may trigger mood switching, so that mood swings can be prevented. Therapy may especially target recognition of the early stages of mood change so that they can be managed. In addition, therapy helps patients deal with the significant amount of turbulence the disorder can create in relationships and in work life.
What is the goal of therapy for bipolar disorder?
Therapy helps patients set up their lives to maintain stability so that their mood isn’t constantly threatened by daily events. Perhaps the first task of therapy is to educate people about the nature of the disorder. At the same time, a primary goal of therapy is to enhance adherence to drug treatment. Extended periods of mood stability can prompt patients to discontinue medication, triggering relapse, while the early phases of manic episodes can feel so energizing that patients stop medication, ushering in full-blown mania and the altered self-perception that can lead to destructive behaviors. Another major goal of therapy is to understand one’s mood patterns so as to minimize both the frequency and intensity of mood cycling.
