Anxiety can be overwhelming when it becomes persistent or uncontrollable. It can inhibit you from enjoying life, building relationships, and achieving your goals. However, you don't have to face this alone. My particular focus is working with individuals struggling with anxiety. I work with adults and teenagers experiencing anxiety. As a Psychotherapist specialising in anxiety, I've had the privilege of helping countless individuals understand the roots of their anxiety, manage their symptoms, and regain control over their lives. In our sessions, we'll work together to unpack your anxiety, identify triggers and patterns.

I offer clients experiencing Anxiety, Relationship Issues, Low Self-Esteem, and Depression a safe non-judgmental and heart-centred space. I help them to unpack at their own pace that which is causing them unease. Sessions which are 1 hour long are held weekly or fortnightly depending on your individual needs and desires. My work aims to put your needs at the heart of the session while I support you and help you to reclaim that part of you that could be living a life that is more fulfilling and indeed more purposeful.

I provide an opportunity for people to share how they are feeling within a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental environment. I use my skills, education, and training, together with my life experience to support clients within my practice. I believe in the inherent healing and growth capacity of every client while at the same time embracing the notions of self-determination and individuality. I understand that we are all unique and clients are helped by different processes at different times. As therapy progresses, I often find that presenting issues change as the relationship unfolds, and this too can be part of the process.

Wherever you are. However you are. You are welcome. Yes, sometimes we just can’t do it on our own and we need help. Therapy is one way to resource yourself to meet some of life’s challenges. Crippling anxiety, overwhelming grief, black depression are sources of deep pain and dark suffering. They can also be as a consequence of early traumatic experiences or negative beliefs we hold about ourselves. To accept where you are is the first step in healing yourself. Hi, I’m Liam and I create a safe place for you to explore your world, where I meet you with compassion and non-judgement in a confidential setting.

I have over 25 years of experience in Chinese medicine, acupuncture treatment for overall wellbeing. I am a fully accredited psychotherapist, through 4 years of studying counselling and psychotherapy, that enhanced my empathetic understanding of my feelings and others. When Western medicine and philosophy meet Eastern, it allows Mind, Body and Spirit to emerge into ‘ONE’. I believe the change happens when we develop the awareness that we have the capacity “To know, To understand, To act differently”, and knowing “Imperfection is the Perfection” under a therapeutic relationship between us.

My goal is to help the client to achieve their own personal goals, via individual or couple's therapy. This includes recovery from trauma e.g. adverse childhood events, sexual abuse, violence, bereavement, PTSD, abandonment or any issues that affects ongoing functioning. It also addresses self-esteem, depression, addiction or anxiety/panic attacks that may arise as a result of stress. Indeed stress is the root of much anxiety and physical ailments. As a foundation I offer a sincere and authentic relationship to assist the client with all relationships and future aspirations in their lives. I also offer clinical supervision.

If you find it difficult to cope, suffer from stress, panic, fear, anxiety, depression or emotional difficulties. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) can help. Are you your own harshest critic, feeling not good enough, feeling stuck, lost or comparing yourself to others? Does this impact your mood or behavior? Counselling can help you to feel better about yourself and feel more connected, by making changes to uncover your strengths. It can be a space to talk about distressing experiences, to help you deal constructively with your difficulties and overcome obstacles to help you heal and grow on a journey to self discovery.

Do you notice patterns of behaviours that you are unsatisfied with? Are you having difficulty coping with your current life? I provide a non-judgmental, supportive environment where clients can feel safe in sharing their thoughts and feelings. I have created a space where clients can explore their goals and discuss the actions they will take to live their lives to the best of their ability. With compassion and understanding, I work with each individual to help them build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are dedicated to achieving. I believe that there is no universal approach to therapy.

How can I find a therapist in Dublin?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
