I work with children and adults . As an art therapist I'll use art as a medium to enable clients to communicate in a safe environment and to help them reflect on emotional issues and gain confidence and self-awareness. I use a client centred approach and therefore I would use an eclectic approach to help client in their therapeutic journey. I am also a qualified EMDR therapist, specialising in trauma. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.

I enjoy working with teenagers and adults , in helping them to help themselves access their inner strengths, and discover their own unique ways of coping with life challenges.
Is life difficult right now ? Perhaps you’re feeling anxious or down ? Sometimes you may feel like you don’t really fit in ? Talking to friends and family can help. Although there may be times when they are not available, or the issue troubling you may be too personally difficult to discuss with them. Talking to someone who is independent, whom you can trust to have your best interests at heart, can be a relief ! In these situations it can help to talk to a trusted counsellor or psychotherapist.

I am qualified to work with children, adolescents and adults .
I work in a client-centred way using a client’s strengths to change their relationship and circumstances. I believe that we are responsible for changing the course of our own lives but when we get bogged down in problems it is easy to lose sight of that. I work with challenging thoughts, setting clear and achievable goals, and using one’s strengths to change circumstances. Being a child and adolescent psychotherapist enables me to understand that our coping mechanisms stem from early life and our challenges. In therapy, I find it helpful to make links between early adverse experiences and current problems.

I am an experienced Chartered Counselling Psychologist who works with adults struggling with a range of issues, including feelings of worthlessness and self-hatred, relationship difficulties, depression and apathy, anxiety and avoidance. I also have a particular interest in helping people who have suffered abuse, trauma or systemic oppression to relieve themselves of self-blame and start to heal and feel strong and in control again. I fundamentally believe that people's intense distress and troubling symptoms are not a sign of deficiency or disorder, but a reasonable and understandable response to what they have been through.

Being human is not easy. It can be challenging to find something safe to rely on to when so much changes, sometimes without warning. Therapy provides a unique space to safely explore the painful parts of human experience, including difficulties with anxiety, depression or relationship issues, for example. Therapy can give the support and safety needed to explore and understand your experience, and often to reframe the beliefs, feelings and behaviours of your lived experience, so that ultimately you suffer less.

I am a fully Accredited Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who works with adults . I believe that by providing a confidential and safe environment can allow an individual to speak freely about their life and/or psychical suffering. This important work can provide insight into one’s relationships, life experiences and lead to the easing of psychical suffering. I place the individual’s unconscious in a privileged position within the work and I believe that it is through speaking that understanding can come about and change can take place.

Our physical and mental well-being are interlinked. At times we may feel our worries and anxieties are dictating the way we live our lives. At times we find ourselves not able to enjoy things that we used to and get no sense of achievement in activities that we do. Do you want to make changes, but you have no idea on how to begin.

How can I find a therapist in Dublin?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
