My wish for each client is that they be well. Every client comes to therapy with different needs. With strong foundations in somatic, emotional and cognitive therapies, I also offer the swifter interventions of Hypnotherapy and NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming). Some clients want a quick fix, some want to explore and experience personal development. Some clients are top down, and others are bottom up. Some clients just need to talk, some don’t want to talk at all. Recognising these needs in how I work with each individual client is essential.

You may be experiencing anxiety or low mood, but also a deeper sense that something hasn’t shifted, despite your efforts to move forward.
Together, we explore what’s happening for you, looking at patterns and behaviours that may no longer be working. We gently tune into what’s happening beneath the surface, including your emotional and bodily responses, helping you make sense of your experience and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Anxiety & Stress?
The ideal environment is one that both supports & challenges us. Too often we go without both of these conditions. A Life Coach will tease out and help you create your vision of what you really want your life to be. If everything in your life stays status quo, you will head into a default future. We need another perspective if not we tend to go around repeating our default patterns and getting nowhere. As a Transformational Life Coach Linda will support you to become the successful and truly happy person you know you are meant to be.

Both internships offered psychotherapeutic intervention using Art psychotherapy for service users presenting with trauma-related symptoms, attachment deficits, depression, anxiety, ADHD, separation and loss.
Young people experiencing emotional and behavioural disturbances can find it challenging to communicate or understand why they feel this way. The process of Child Art Psychotherapy can benefit in many ways as it is relational and fosters consistency and containment. The psychoanalytic and psychodynamic approach of Art Psychotherapy incorporates verbal and non-verbal communication to gain insight into the child's thoughts and beliefs systems. The focus of therapy is to understand the unconscious material that influences behaviour and emotions in order to foster change and promote healthy psychological functioning.

Do you often feel anxious, overwhelmed, or like you're 'not good enough' no matter how hard you try?
Building a strong therapeutic relationship is central to how I work. I aim to create a space where you feel safe, understood, and comfortable being yourself. While therapy often involves exploring difficult experiences, I also believe that humour and moments of lightness can play an important role in helping the process feel more natural and supportive.

You might find yourself constantly on guard, stuck in anxiety, or feeling deeply disconnected from the people around you—no matter how hard you try to 'think' your way out of it.
I specialize in somatic trauma therapy because talk therapy often stops where the body stores stress. Using Somatic Experiencing (SE) and Transforming the Experience-Based Brain (TEB), we safely reset physical patterns of anxiety and relational wounds. Together, we'll start building a reliable sense of internal safety so you can move towards relational ease.

Have you finally got to that point in your struggle with anxiety that you really want to deal with it?
I use what is considered the gold standard of treatment for anxiety called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, also known as CBT. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) works because it gets you to challenge the distorted ways of thinking that is the cause of much of your anxiety. In therapy you will learn tools and techniques to challenge your anxiety.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
