I am so glad you finally decided to come to counselling and talk with someone. The first steps are hard. I offer a space for people to discover what is really going on for them. I use different approaches such as CBT so that you can learn new skills to use daily. I am also interested in what has caused you to feel the way you feel, so that you can change certain ways you think and behave. When you come and speak its completely confidential and its my job to ensure that you feel at ease and confident that you will get what you want from sessions. Give me a free 15 minute call to discuss.

Men's Mental Health, Anxiety & Relationship Counselling If your mind rarely switches off, you may find yourself overthinking, replaying conversations, or feeling overwhelmed by your thoughts. Even when you want things to feel calmer, it can be difficult to step out of these patterns. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, ADHD, low self-esteem, and relationship or intimacy concerns, particularly where overthinking and emotional overwhelm begin to impact confidence, connection, and daily life.

Research shows that the most important aspect of therapy is the working alliance between client and therapist, and my approach is informed by this. I believe that the most crucial thing I can provide is an honest, human-to-human connection; and before anything else this requires trust. I strive to be warm, present and above all human for my clients.

I’m an EMDR-trained psychotherapist working with trauma, addiction, and the patterns that quietly organise a life. Before psychotherapy, I worked in the international art world — a way of seeing I still carry: attention to what is held in the body, what repeats, what resists language. I don’t see people as problems to fix, but as nervous systems shaped by experience. Therapy becomes a steady, boundaried space where what has been carried alone can be met, felt, and slowly reworked — until something more liveable, and more your own, begins to take shape.

It is a common experience to get stuck in thoughts, feelings, and situations, that no matter how hard you try, you can't seem to escape or change. Sometimes this can be because something happened to you, or follow a period of change in your life. Other times, it can creep up on you, or seems to come out of nowhere. If any of this sounds like your experience, please know, you don't need to to struggle with it alone. Things can change for the better. Please reach out, I am confident there are things that can be done to help.

I have over twenty years’ experience in private practice and work fully online with clients across Ireland

Ideal clients are people who look fine on the outside but feel stuck inside: anxiety, overwhelm, trauma triggers, OCD patterns, grief, addiction, burnout, or relationship stress. They come because they can’t switch off, sleep is poor, emotions feel too much or nothing, and the same patterns keep repeating. I help by getting to the root cause, not just managing symptoms. I specialise in trauma-informed psychotherapy and use practical tools clients can use in real life to feel calmer, clearer, and back in control.

Is therapy for men different than it is for women?
Therapeutic treatments and types are the same for men as they are for women, with the same protocols followed and the same strategies employed. Discussing one’s feelings and emotions is an integral part of most therapies, and some men find doing so more challenging. Therapists can help clients through the process; some specialize in treating men for this reason.

How do you encourage a man to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either himself or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can men prepare for therapy?
Men can prepare for therapy by approaching the process with an open mind, being willing to talk about their challenges, and giving treatment the time to work. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. It can be useful for men who struggle to recall their emotional states to write down notes between sessions about their response to a given event or how they were feeling at a particular time.

What should men know about the process of therapy?
One of the most common reasons men don’t seek therapy is the notion that there’s something wrong with them if they do. Men should know that just because they’re seeking therapy doesn’t mean they’re mentally ill or damaged in some way. In the same way people work on their bodies through exercise or a craft through practice, therapy can be a way to improve the mental and emotional skills needed to be productive and effective partners, employees, and people in all realms of life.
