I am available to take clients on line and face to face.
I am so glad you finally decided to come to counselling and talk with someone. The first steps are hard. I offer a space for people to discover what is really going on for them. I use different approaches such as CBT so that you can learn new skills to use daily. I am also interested in what has caused you to feel the way you feel, so that you can change certain ways you think and behave. When you come and speak its completely confidential and its my job to ensure that you feel at ease and confident that you will get what you want from sessions. Give me a free 15 minute call to discuss.

You may long for clarity, emotional relief, and healthier ways to cope but feel uncertain about where to start. You don’t have to navigate it alone. With the right support, healing and change are possible.

The stress of modern life can lead us to experience anxiety, depression and many other symptoms. Whilst bereavement, change and loss are all natural processes, they can also be painful and destabilizing which can create feelings of anger, helplessness and vulnerability. Challenges in the present can also unearth experiences from our past which we might not have had the opportunity to fully understand and process. These feelings can seriously impact on our lives including relationships, physical health and work such that it can sometimes feel we are out of control.

I offer online sessions and limited in-person weekend appointments in Cork, with therapy usually taking place weekly at a consistent time.
I work with adults who may feel overwhelmed by anxiety, past experiences, or patterns in relationships that leave them feeling stuck or disconnected. There are many reasons why you may be interested in starting psychotherapy. You may be feeling stuck in situations that no longer serve you. Things like life transitions, relationship challenges, job changes, or persistent worries might be on your mind. You could be seeking deeper self understanding or looking to share your unique story with someone who really hears you. Psychotherapy is the place to explore your inner world without judgment, and to support you to make genuine changes in your life.

I work exclusively with couples. Many people come to me when they are in the middle of a specific crisis, feeling a deep sense of flatness, or are at a crossroads trying to decide the future of their relationship. Whether you are seeking marriage counselling or are in a committed long-term relationship, I provide the support you need to find clarity. I am passionate about helping couples build a solid connection and, where possible, avoid premature divorce. I never suggest ending a relationship; my role is to facilitate your goals. I also help those who want to separate to create a "good ending" with mutual respect.

I continue to meet clients in a face-to-face setting, while adhering to the guidelines for same.
Our world has changed beyond recognition in the past few months and for many people it can feel very overwhelming. Fear, panic, anxiety and stress are all too common in the clients I am meeting on a day to day basis. I hear how isolating it is for people at the moment. Relationship and connection are vital now, more than ever. Talking with a trained professional can help make sense of what you are feeling. Through this therapeutic relationship, you can find connection, healing and the space to speak about the difficult challenges you are going through.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
