Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward? You may be managing anxious thoughts, low mood, stress, self-doubt, perfectionism, or the impact of past experiences that still feel present. These difficulties can affect your relationships, focus, confidence, and sense of self. You might feel like you are never quite “enough.” Therapy can help bring clarity, direction, and relief. With over 10 years of clinical experience, I support clients to better understand their emotions, shift long-standing patterns, and reconnect with what matters most.

I specialize in the areas of anxiety, panic attacks, stress, sleep difficulties and obsessive compulsive disorder ( OCD).
I am a Chartered Psychologist of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), Psychology lecturer, therapist and published author. Every person is uniquely perfectly imperfect. I work with clients as individuals and take into account what matters most to them. I support them in building skills and living a life in the direction of their deepest values. We can't always prevent life's challenges from occurring but we can change how we respond to the thoughts and feelings that arise when things get difficult. I only use evidence-based interventions.

While I enjoy working with clients facing a wide range of difficulties, I have a particular interest in anxiety, OCD and trauma
My interest in psychotherapy, spirituality and meditation began after the end of my marriage several years ago, which like many other types of losses, triggered a lot of suffering. Life transition, family and friends losses, the breakup of long-term relationships, stress, anxiety and depression are all part of human suffering. However, we have an innate capability, which we can strengthen, that allows us to navigate and, more importantly, learn from our most difficult life experiences.

Ideal clients are people who look fine on the outside but feel stuck inside: anxiety, overwhelm, trauma triggers, OCD patterns, grief, addiction, burnout, or relationship stress.
I’m a trauma-informed psychotherapist. I help adults and couples stuck in anxiety, panic, overthinking, shame, low mood, or repeating relationship patterns. Therapy with me is practical and grounded. We make sense of what’s happening, build emotional awareness, and learn tools to regulate your nervous system so life feels steadier.

I strongly believe that therapy is your – the client’s - space, at your pace. At the heart of this is the therapeutic relationship, co-created by us and bound by the commitment to safety, non-judgment and confidentiality. For me, therapy is about choice. Each of us and our experience is unique. Our goal will be increasing self-awareness to enable conscious choice-making leading to greater well-being, both within yourself and the World around you.

Nosce Te Ipsum. Therapy begins with a dialogue about what indeed brought the client into the therapeutic setting. Clients’ thoughts, feelings and experiences provide much of the fodder for a therapeutic dialogue. Much of the work in therapy involves making sense of these thoughts and emotions. The therapist educes the client’s stories; clients narrate and share them. This integrative framework provide the lens in which I listen and connect to the narratives and presenting issues of my clients. As the tempo takes its momentum, a gradual progression of humanistic kinship, trust and understanding between my client and I are entrenched.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Counsellors
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine, fluoxetine, and sertraline, among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
