She believes the client is the expert on themselves, assisting them to make meaningful changes in the service of what matters most to them, viewing her role as a supportive, non directive one. She has worked extensively with clients on issues such as anger mgt, chronic illness, panic attacks & relationship problems with clients who feel stuck in perpetual cycles of stress, anxiety, anger, depression, or addiction or are experiencing dissatisfaction in their day to day life. She offers practical strategies to calm our anxious minds, transform negative emotions, and facilitate greater self acceptance, freedom and inner peace.

We all experience challenging emotions, thoughts and events throughout the course of our lives. Psychotherapy is one way to process and make peace with the complexities of the lived experience. I admire the courage & ambition of wanting to bring about a positive change in your life. Understanding ourselves & our motivations is key to building self compassion and learning to respond rather than react to life’s challenges. I work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, sexuality issues, among other concerns. I offer clients a safe, nonjudgemental space to understand and accept themselves.

Depression, anxiety, stress, suicidal ideation bereavement and loss, self-esteem, sexual abuse, trauma, sexual identity/orientation, bullying and workplace issues, life transitions, relationships and intimacy issues, body issues.
From my perspective, psychotherapy means healing. It is the opening, where individuals begin to experience a more full contact with themselves and the outside world. I help them understand their emotions that signpost their needs. I help them to discover their unfulfilled needs and, together, we look for obstacles and barriers that could prevent people from fully enjoying their lives. One step at a time, they become increasingly ready to lead their lives consciously. They begin to authentically live, rather than continue, their lives.

Supporting individuals in developing effective coping skills to manage depression, anxiety, fear, relationship issues and life stressors.
As a psychologist with experience, I know how great the potential is in every person. We sometimes forget about our capabilities. For various reasons, life did not contribute to the disclosure of our inner potential and resources. But in fact, everything that people need to cope with in life exists inside them. I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instil self-understanding among patients and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. Making changes to self-defeating behavior and coping with sadness and fear can bring life-altering results. English and Russian clients. Instagram: kris kmt

Having spent many years working as a volunteer with adolescents in difficulties, suffering from anxiety, stress and depression I have great respect for the demands both adolescents and adults face.
Sometimes we need a non-bias“outside” perspective to hear our own voices. As an integrative therapist I utilize approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, person centered, Solution focused, mindfulness etc. depending on the needs and requests of each individual. Pulling apart what may often feel like a tangled ball of wool in ones head in order to recognise, prioritize and cope with the sometimes over whelming thoughts, feeling and behaviors that present. Providing a secure, non-judgmental, confidential environment in which you can safely express your thoughts, feelings, and concerns at a rate that is comfortable to you

I believe in supporting you to lead a more balanced life no matter what experiences you have had or what issues you are currently dealing with. Sometimes stressful or traumatic events can hamper our ability to cope with life’s challenges and leave us feeling overwhelmed, stuck and worn out. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, stress or processing trauma past or present, I will support you in your journey to finding your feet again. I have a deep appreciation for the wisdom of the body and tools that support working with instead of against ourselves.

Available for consultation for various mental health issues including Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Mood Disorders, Couple Therapy, Bereavement, Self Harm, Suicidal Tendencies, Abuse, Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress, Relationship Issues, Sexual Dysfunctions, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Nosce Te Ipsum. Therapy begins with a dialogue about what indeed brought the client into the therapeutic setting. Clients’ thoughts, feelings and experiences provide much of the fodder for a therapeutic dialogue. Much of the work in therapy involves making sense of these thoughts and emotions. The therapist educes the client’s stories; clients narrate and share them. This integrative framework provide the lens in which I listen and connect to the narratives and presenting issues of my clients. As the tempo takes its momentum, a gradual progression of humanistic kinship, trust and understanding between my client and I are entrenched.

What is the goal of therapy for depression?

Therapy for depression has several major goals. One is to relieve the mental pain of depression, which distorts feeling and thinking so that sufferers cannot see beyond their current state of mind or envision feeling better. Another is to give people the mental tools to recognise and correct the kinds of distorted thinking that turn a problem into a catastrophe and lead to despair. Therapy also teaches people how to process negative emotions in constructive ways, so they have more control over their own emotional reactivity. And it helps people regain the ability to see themselves positively, the motivation to do things, and the capacity for pleasure.

What happens in therapy for depression?

Perhaps most important, no matter the type of therapy, patients form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Patients learn to identify and to challenge their own erroneous beliefs and thoughts that amplify the effects of negative experiences. They learn to identify situations in which they are especially vulnerable. And they learn new patterns of thinking and behaving. They may be given “homework” assignments in which they practice their developing skills. In addition, good therapists regularly monitor patients to assess whether and how much the condition is improving.

What therapy types help with depression?

Several types of short-term therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps clients challenge their negative thoughts and beliefs, learn new behavioral strategies, and curb reactivity to distressing situations. Behavioural activation (BA) is a form of therapy often used in conjunction with CBT; it focuses on engagement in rewarding activity as a pathway to changing negative feelings and disturbed mood. Another widely used approach is interpersonal therapy (IPT), which targets the social difficulties that both give rise to and get exacerbated by depression. Therapists may combine approaches as needed.

Can therapy for depression be done online?

Studies have found that online therapy can be highly effective for treating depression, although it may be more challenging to build a good therapist-patient alliance on screen than in person—at least at first. However, online therapy can offer considerable advantages. Accessibility and convenience are tops among them. Some people actually find it easier to talk about problems online than in person. While online therapy typically limits visibility of facial expression and body gestures that give important nonverbal cues to a patient’s state of mind, it can give therapists a glimpse into a patient’s world and life, providing information that can be highly useful in guiding therapy.

How effective is therapy for depression?

Many studies show that therapy is highly effective provided that patients complete the prescribed course of therapy, commonly 16 to 20 sessions. Over the long term, it is more effective than medication and the effects are more enduring. As a result, psychotherapy has the power not just to relieve current suffering but to prevent future episodes of the disorder. Therapy reverses the dysfunction in neural circuitry that disposes individuals to a negative view of themselves, the world, and their future and they acquire coping techniques, problem-solving skills, and understanding of their own vulnerabilities that are useful over the course of a lifetime.
