Starting counselling can feel like a big step, but it’s one that shows strength and a desire for positive change. I work by offering a safe, compassionate, and confidential space where we can explore the areas of your life that are causing difficulties. I have experience of helping clients with anxiety, depression, burnout, anger, trauma, abuse, grief, suicidal ideation, self esteem, relationship issues, neurodivergent and autistic clients. My background as a fully accredited counsellor/psychotherapist, counselling trainer, intellectual disability nurse, and fine artist informs my creative and holistic approach to therapy.

Taking a holistic approach to well-being, elements of energy healing, creative approaches, family constellation work and mindfulness may also be incorporated when appropriate.
As a therapist my aim is to provide a safe, welcoming and confidential space in which we can work together to explore the reasons you have come to counselling. Those reasons vary from person to person and may include, anxiety, grief, loss, stress, depression, relationship issues, difficulty with trust, trauma, low self-esteem or coping with change in an increasingly changing world. Together, we can explore these issues and learn to break free of limiting patterns and beliefs that may be holding you back and take steps to move forward in life with greater ease and peace.

Parents & educators are human beings and might feel isolated, alone and stuck, unsure what might be the best step to take, what approach or strategy to follow and/or who to connect with, how to advocate for your child and/or what to expect in a certain situation. Your child has just been identified as autistic, ADHD, Dyslexia or having an Intellectual Disability. You can't get your head around the clinical report(s). Working in partnership with the school proves to be a challenge. Parenting a child in a nurturing & neuro-affirmative way is important to you. I have 6+ years experience of working therapeutically with people affected by dementia, with a special emphasis on family and carers support.
I pride myself on creating an environment that is inviting, non judgmental and empathetic to all my potential and existing clients. I strongly believe in providing a safe and comfortable space where you have the opportunity to be truly heard. I appreciate how difficult it can be for some to reach out and take that initial step in contacting a therapist. As a result of this, I offer an initial informal consultation (15-20 minutes) free of charge, to enable you to decide whether or not you would like to work with me before making any formal commitment.

I work with clients who may be struggling with a wide range of challenges or trauma related to life events, relationships of family.
I understand how anxious it can feel when you decide to seek counselling or psychotherapy support. From personal experience, I believe in the benefits and healing that may come from therapy. Therapy can help us to reach a deeper, and insightful understanding, of why we are how we are, why we do things the way we do, how we are in relationships and, in life. It can help us to understand what is no longer working and what we want to nourish in ourselves as we move forward living life on our own terms. Therapy can empower us and give us back our own voice.

Gestalt, mindfulness, somatic experiencing, family constellations, nervous system regulation approaches and awareness development influence my work.
The decision to come to counselling can come about for lots of reasons and circumstances. It can feel like a big step into the unknown. I offer a warm, accepting and compassionate relationship that is respectful of your way of being. We will work together at a pace that supports you to consider a broader view of the difficulties you are facing . Working in this way fosters self-awareness, self-compassion and the real possibility of changing your relationship with yourself and others. This can be hard but feeling accepted and accompanied in exploring your world can offer you the lived experience of more calm, support and choice.

I specialize in working with clients who are navigating a range of challenges, with a particular focus on trauma rooted in relationships, family dynamics or life-changing events.
As a qualified Counsellor Psychotherapist, I believe that discovering the secrets of happiness isn’t just for a fortunate few—it’s a path we all walk. Throughout my personal and professional experiences, I’ve come to realize that no one sets out to be unhappy.Often we adapt to life’s challenges out of necessity, sometimes without even realizing it. But here’s the exciting part: everything we’ve learned, we can also unlearn. This means we have the power to reshape our journey towards peace, joy and fulfilment.I wholeheartedly believe that therapy is a transformative journey open to everyone seeking growth, healing, and self-discovery

Family Therapy Counsellors

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
