Throughout our lives we encounter situations that challenge us. Sometimes we just can't get passed them, we get stuck and cannot seem to find a solution. As a result we become anxious, stressed or even depressed . I work with clients in a non directive way through psychoanalysis, which allows the client look at their situation or problems, explore the potential causes and find a way of dealing with them. There is no 'one size fits all' solution to personal difficulties, everyone's experience is unique and the psychoanalytic approach allows the client find a solution that is individual to their situation.

In my practice, I strive to provide an environment of safety for clients to develop a compassionate awareness of the problems they are facing. My training has allowed me to develop a strong ability to listen deeply to what clients need; providing a much-needed sound wall so that the client does not feel alone with their problems. In this manner, we as clients can develop a patient understanding of any issue we face, i.e. anxiety, depression , suicidal ideation, grief among many others. I work with clients to improve their lives and their management of personal problems in a collaborative, communicative and safe context.

Taking the first step in deciding to attend therapy is often the hardest part, it can be difficult to admit to ourselves that we may need the intervention of another to assist us on this journey. Coming to speak allows an individual to be heard in way that is specific to them, a singular , and not to fit the specifics of ticking the boxes. Speaking about your way of experiencing life and it's difficulties and challenges, can free up a person and allow them to look through a different lens.

One person's mole hill can be another person's mountain. Life's terrain can look and feel different for everyone. It may be that you need some help making a big decision. You may feel the need for emotional support through a challenging event or time in your life. You might be wondering "why does this thing keep happening to me?" or "how come this uncomfortable feeling won't go away?". You may have tried self-help and had some success and yet the change is short-lived or you aren't getting the outcomes or emotional healing you had hoped for. You might feel generally stuck or swamped.

www.aspacetobetherapy.ie - My name is Kim Elliott. I founded A Space To Be to provide clients with a safe and confidential space to be themselves and to further discover themselves. Working from a humanistic and person centred ethos means I believe that you, the client, hold the tools within to heal and grow. However, when traumatic life events have occurred this can cloud perception and disrupt the relationship held with the self. Issues such as low self esteem, anxiety and depression can arise. I work in a collaborative and empowering yet gentle way to accompany you on your journey of reconnection and healing.

“The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination.” Carl Rogers. The world we live in is constantly challenging, particularly if we are already feeling stressed or anxious. This stress can lead to lasting feelings of sadness, anxiety or depression . But this does not have to be the case. We all have within us the ability to live a more fulfilled and happier life. A good therapist helps realise this potential by facilitating self-discovery and acceptance and using this for emotional growth.

I am well aware that life can be a struggle when trying to deal with anxiety, depression , profound sadness, grief, relationship issues, emotional upheavals, stress, long standing hurt or deeply embedded trauma. Sometimes it’s about self exploration. I offer a warm, safe, welcoming and non judgmental space where clients can come and examine how they see themselves in their world; explore unhelpful behavioral patterns and look at how they are in relationship to others and themselves. At all times in the Counselling space, I work from my heart; from a place of compassion and love, with genuine acceptance of the client just as they are

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
