Deciding to come for counselling can often be a difficult and drawn-out process. It is often also a very rewarding and enriching experience leading to changes in one’s life that reduce distress and increase one’s ability to cope with difficulties and challenges. By it's nature the process involves engaging with uncomfortable aspects of oneself and our relationships that are challenging. The goal of the process is to increase self-knowledge, self-acceptance and self-compassion to enhance our capacity to relate to ourselves and others in healthier and more fulfilling ways.
I am interested in listening with compassion to every client's story. I have a particular interest in developmental trauma (CPTSD), early attachment deficits and their impact on our ability to relate to ourselves and others in a healthy and functional way.
I work to create relationships of trust, respect and openness, where the client feels safe to work on their issues in a non-judgemental and collaborative way. Clients usually do best when they attend on the same day at the same time every week and this is the way I like to work with people. I operate a 48hr cancellation policy.
