Dr Colm Marren is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI). He holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (Trinity College Dublin), an MA in Applied Psychology, a Higher Diploma in Psychology, and a BA (Hons) in Journalism. He works with adults and adolescents in private practice in Drogheda, and has previously worked in the HSE and the Irish Prison Service. His style is warm and down-to-earth — offering a safe, non-judgemental space, with honesty and humour where appropriate.
Colm supports clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, self-esteem issues, and the impact of stressful or overwhelming life events. His approach is collaborative and tailored — there is no ‘one size fits all’ therapy, and progress comes from understanding the person behind the problem (not just the symptoms).
Colm’s primary approach is Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), alongside CBT, psychodynamic and person-centred therapy. He also offers adult autism screening and assessment, with an evidence-informed process and comprehensive written report. Sessions aim to be supportive and practical, with clarity and direction — and a bit of humanity (and humour) when it helps.
