About
Before therapy can be productive it must firstly feel safe. To that end, I initially attempt to provide a sense of ease in counseling sessions. From there, goals that the client might like to achieve naturally emerge in the conversation. These goals can be anything at all: from wishing to feel less anxious, sad, irritable or troubled, to addressing relationship difficulties at home or at work, to trying to better understand a feeling of being unfulfilled, thinking or feeling differently about our past or, in many cases, just to have a safe place to discuss anything at all in a confidential, non-judgemental setting.
The therapy is tailored to suit a client's individual processing style. While always remaining goal-focused, I utilize an person-centered, integrated approach that also employs interventions from CBT, Gestalt, psycho-dynamic and emotion and solution-focused therapy.
My approach to working with clients is to firstly establish a functional, communicative, trusting relationship and then to quickly identify and begin to work toward achieving collaboratively agreed upon goals. Please feel free to reach out for a brief consultation to see if you believe that we could work together in a productive, meaningful way.
