I am a chartered psychologist and clinical sexologist. I lived in HK for 25 years but am currently located in the UK. I visit HK occasionally for in-person work but we mainly meet online. My next visit to HK is 18-23rd March 2026. Within the broad field of therapy, I lean naturally towards working with issues involving the interplay of psychology and biology. I have worked extensively with anxiety, depression, trauma, eating and sexual disturbances, stress, and disrupted sleep.

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and relationship issues. I am passionate about healing past traumas and discovering possibilities for change. My approach is rooted in self exploration and analysis of the stories people tell themselves and how shifting those narratives can alleviate guilt, worry and sadness. Many of my clients are experiencing major life transitions -- whether on the journey to starting a family or entering a new phase of independence -- and a change in thinking style and perspective can unlock new purpose and potential.

I am deeply passionate about helping those who feel lost or overwhelmed when faced with uncertainty or challenging life transitions. I work with adults, kids and teens struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, loss, and change. My clients are often living in a state of stress and survival and are stuck in cycles of fear, overthinking, and self-doubt. If this sounds familiar, I can help you to feel safer, calmer, and more self-assured. I also have a special interest in addressing the deeper more complex work of trauma and attachment wounds which seem to be at the root of so many afflictions associated with anxiety and low self-worth.

Having personally experienced depression, I have hit the rock bottom of my life where I was completely in despair. This journey has given me deep understanding of the pain and feeling of hopelessness that many individuals may encounter while suffering with mental health issues. With my personal experience, I am dedicated to uplift lives of individuals who are currently struggling with mental health issues. I want to reassure you that it is completely OK to be not OK. You need not walk this journey alone.

I can help you if you are seeking relief from symptoms which may include anxiety, depression, and/or negative thinking. I believe people want to flourish and realize their full potential. Many clients strongly suspect their mental state is something that can be improved through therapy, but actually seeking it out can be difficult for a number of reasons. I wholeheartedly agree that the main goal of therapy is to identify obstacles a person may have towards flourishing and then finding ways to eliminate those obstacles (which often appear in the form of false beliefs, or fear stemming from family of origin and life experiences)

I often meet clients as they are reaching the limits of their abilities to handle life's surprises. This doesn't necessarily mean that their lives are falling apart, but they're recognising what is working for them now may not always work and they're seeking new ideas and new ways to live. Whether that is handling stress at work, dealing with conflicts in their relationships, clients I work with often feel like they're coming up short and are unable to break through - in short, like they're stuck. They want to try something new but are unsure what may work and are looking for resources and support to build themselves up.

Healing starts here. You might be seeking support because the weight of anxiety has become too heavy, or because you find yourself repeating the same painful patterns in your relationships. Often, what we experience as "being stuck" today is actually the lingering echo of trauma or the invisible pressure of our family history. Here is where healing starts.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counselling

How can I find a therapist inHong Kong?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
