How should we meditate? Some choose a reliable technique (backed by science), others the technique they are most familiar with. But familiarity doesn't always lead to greater meaning. In a meaningful meditation session, insights trigger mental events you can relate to. When ideas follow a logical approach, better coping options can be considered, and experience is translated into mental skills. Join me every Sunday for a meaningful meditation session. Zoom link will be provided upon request. Hours may change based on availability - please check for updates.

I have over 19 years experience counselling people encountering temporary stressors or life-long behavioural and emotional challenges and/or those with mental health diagnoses. Relationship difficulties, life transitions, depression, anxiety and trauma are just a few of the themes with which I have supported clients. I also have experience working with complex cases, including those with dual-diagnoses. My work rests on a threshold of respect, compassion, and non-judgement. It is also collaborative: I offer an educated and human perspective to help bring heightened awareness to challenges, creating an opportunity for change.
Why do actions arise from motivation but are still welcomed with frustration? The self-preservation instinct becomes an inner purpose for the unconscious and only a grounded self can face the challenge. It is well known that accomplishment should be an opportunity for self-fulfillment. Yet you rarely expect positive things to come. The future only seems uncertain, because of all the distracting thoughts you are trying to keep in order. It's difficult to focus, prioritise and commit to something meaningful while struggling to achieve control over your life. This is not the scenario you wish to follow.

I specialise in mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress and men's related issues. These are issues such as intimacy, ED, low sex drive, pornography and relationship or social challenges. In psychotherapy sessions I provide a confidential setting that encourages you to reflect on your journey. We will explore the feelings, emotions and impact significant events have had on the way you experience day-to-day life. We will work through your thought process moving towards the version of you that you've always wanted to be. Who is that person? Do they allow themselves to smile, laugh and be happy?
I facilitate an open psychotherapy group for women wanting to explore issues related to pregnancy and motherhood. Group therapy is often very beneficial for women seeking support, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. You will find that a group is challenging, enriching, and a safe environment in which to explore your experience of yourself and of others. You will be asked to abide by a framework of confidentiality and mutual respect. The group runs at Kensington Counselling on Thursday mornings. It is an open group, which means that you can join as soon as there is a place available. Sessions are 90 minutes and cost £35.

Life and relationships are not easy to navigate, and if you’re experiencing anxiety and depression, or going through difficult times, things can feel overwhelming. I understand how difficulties cause you to lose your sense of control, your overall wellbeing and even your sense of who you are. These are normal experiences, but if you’re struggling to feel a basic sense of joy about being you, or if your relationships are causing you more pain than pleasure, then it might be time to seek help. It can be difficult to imagine how talking therapy can help, but together we can work towards symptomatic relief and the freedom to be youself.
Based on my book published in 2019 Mind Kind Your Child's Mental Health published by Exisle and available on Amazon. This group will run through all the research informed principles in the book and address your concerns and anxieties about being a parent. The aim of this group is to avoid parenting errors and engage with confidence and joy with your children. Its the only job for which we dont have a training and this group aims to change that.

Sharing your experience can often really help to reduce anxiety. Ironically and especially with social anxiety. Every group is a safe place and sharing is not necessary at the outset. The aim of this group is to feel strong, confident and increase your self esteme. But also to share your experience if you wish.
As a positive psychologist I can help you out of the overwhelm, away from the anxiety and reducing the panic. • For you - I consider listening and a hearing your story to be paramount. It's often said "there's something about saying it out loud that brings about a shift" and it's true, I've seen it so often. "Fiona's style has been described by clients as 'more than just listening'. 'She is straight talking, informative and balanced but overall has a genuine and kind understanding."

Group therapy offers a safe, therapeutic place to speak about yourself, your family and other relationships. Conflicts and worries can be explored with others who are going through similar issues. Groups of up to 8 members meet once or twice a week in a safe and confidential space. Each session lasts 90 minutes. Before joining the group, you will meet several times with me. This type of therapy is especially recommended for those who are having problems in relationships with others, feel isolated, depressed or suffer from social anxiety.
I work with individuals and groups in private practice. I offer a containing, open and non-judgemental space where individuals and group members feel able to bring their thoughts and feelings in a confidential and secure environment. In my practice I see people from all kinds of backgrounds and different circumstances who suffer from depression, anxiety, childhood trauma, relationship difficulties, problems with self-esteem, feelings of loneliness or social isolation, stress at work and more. I offer short and long term psychotherapy. I am also available for online sessions.

Assessments will be completed before joining a group. 7 attendees per cohort. 90 minute session, 8 weeks. Groups for like-minded individuals on a parallel path of discovering who they are and how to awaken their personal power. Focusing on building trust, re-training the mind, authenticity, letting go of old beliefs and conditions. A therapeutic coaching space providing tools to start this self developmental journey. Cohorts will be selected based on where you are starting on your journey. Each week homework will be set and exercises completed, this includes inner child healing, mirror work, manifestation, law of attraction, grounding exercises etc.
I have limited availability for in-person sessions. We work within a structured integrative framework. You will describe and specify the areas you’d like to work on from your initial assessment. I will formalise a treatment plan, which will be communicated throughout, whilst sharing homework and other resources I see will enhance your progress. Our work is to understand who you are and to own your personal power enough to start leading and transforming your relationships with yourself and those around you. Working towards a goal can help with self-esteem and self-development as you can map and develop while seeing progress.
A membership for Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) in the UK to meet other HSPs for friendship and connection at HSPconnect.uk. I also hold an in person support group for HSPs in London every 2 months. Please check the events page on my website at cindygalehsp.com for the next dates.
Do you often put others' needs before your own? Do you think all the time and have difficulty switching your mind off? Do you care deeply, pick up others emotions, are very emotional and also naturally empathic? <> If this sounds like you, you might be a highly sensitive person (HSP). 1 in 5 of all people have this scientifically researched but little known, inherited trait. It can be tough being an HSP in a largely non-sensitive world. I support HSP to truly flourish; to find themselves and their purpose, at home, in relationships and at work.
Living in a fragmented society often means that we don't have a space to bring our deeply personal issues for others to hear and see us without judgement or telling us what to do. An analytic group is a space where we meet and talk and try to make sense of our experiences. People are welcome to join the group and bring what they struggle with alone.
Quite often we have no adequate words to name how we feel, and we may get lost in familiar but unhelpful or hurtful patterns of relationships and behaviours. I offer people who are hurt, worried or isolated with their thoughts to jointly explore ways how to change these patterns.

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in SW5?
Search for nearby support groups by inputting your city, postcode, or the name of the group into the search bar. From there, you can filter to find a group that suits your needs, whether you are looking for support for a teenager, a group that focuses on a specific issue, such as depression, or a particular program type, such as one geared toward developing social skills. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.
How does group therapy work?
Therapy groups are led by one or more therapists and serve to help people process their experiences and learn from others who understand their challenges firsthand. They can be based on a specific issue, such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, and caregiving. They can involve a specific type of program or therapy, such as a social skills group or CBT group. They can also be specific to a particular population or community, such as teens or LGBTQ.
Support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous, also focus on a specific issue, but are typically led by members with lived experiences and are less structured than therapy groups. Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

Most therapy groups will meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.
What are the benefits of group therapy?
Support groups help connect people with shared challenges or physical and mental health conditions. In a group setting, participants can receive support and feedback from peers and can acquire new skills, strategies and perspectives by listening to one another. Discussing your experience with someone who also has a cancer diagnosis, or whose son also struggles with addiction, for example, can help you feel less alone, reduce distress, find empathy and connection, and learn practical or medical information that has helped others. Group therapy can also be a more affordable option than individual therapy and just as effective.
Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
Support groups can be deeply valuable for both emotional support and/or treatment outcomes. It’s difficult to make a blanket statement on efficacy due to the many different types of support groups and conditions treated, but group therapy has been found to be just as effective as individual therapy in establishing long-term abstinence for conditions such as substance abuse, addiction and alcohol abuse.
How much does group therapy cost?
Group counselling is typically less expensive than individual counselling, with each session costing on average between £45 to £60. Meanwhile, individual therapy sessions can run anywhere from £60 to £150. It is possible to find low-cost group therapy options and many therapists offer group sessions free of charge.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your group therapy sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for group therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of a support group session is often one hour but can fall anywhere between 45 minutes and two hours. The amount of time that people remain in a support group varies based on their specific needs and goals and the type of therapy. Some individuals may seek a shorter-term group, such as a bereavement group, that may last between six and 20 weeks. Some may seek a longer-term group that lasts for a year or indefinitely.
What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups have many benefits, but there are a few limitations as well. Support groups do not constitute formal therapeutic or medical treatment, and are not run by licensed mental health professionals, so some people may opt for group therapy or individual therapy instead. Additionally, support groups can depend on the other participants, so a disruptive individual has the potential to mar the group dynamic, and the anecdotal information shared may sometimes be unhelpful or inaccurate. Because it is a group setting, confidentiality can be more difficult to guard and participants receive less personalized attention than they would in an individual therapy session.
