I have spaces for a man and a woman in my in-person, mixed long-term psychotherapy group. Group therapy can offer a supportive space to help you to understand yourself better, make sense of your world and to address the obstacles that may be getting in the way of you having a meaningful and fulfilling life. It can be particularly helpful if you have difficulties in relating to others and developing healthy relationships, if you are feeling isolated, or misunderstood. Please get in contact to arrange an individual session to see if my group might be right for you.

Life can be challenging and there are times when we may need help to navigate our way through it. Often our early experiences in our families don't equip us to manage life as well as we would like. This can cause difficulties in our relationships, both with ourselves and others and can lead us to repeat patterns that are unhelpful and leave us feeling depressed and anxious or stuck and unfulfilled. Therapy can help us to understand ourselves and our experiences and to give us the resources to cope with difficult feelings and circumstances. It can help us to improve our lives and relationships and make better decisions.
I offer small group support and therapy sessions for your employees, staff members, management, volunteers, residents, etc. Long term or short term focused sessions with a view to improving your team's wellbeing. Critical incident debriefing is also available.

Together with my fellow psychotherapist, Julia Abolina, we have created The Relationship Design Club. Here you can join a community of people who want to deepen their capacity to relate. We invite you to come and explore with us your relationships with yourself, with others and with the world around you.

My clients are typically people with intercultural background - individuals, couples or groups. They might be facing challenges related to significant change – moving between different countries/cultures, change in their relationship status or professional roles. They might be going through challenging times in life and facing difficult choices: infidelity, separation, empty nest syndrome. We work in their first or second language - English, Russian or Bulgarian. And even if I don’t speak your native tongue, as someone who is multilingual, I understand the challenges and gifts that come with bilingualism and multilingualism.
Relationships shape every aspect of our lives, yet they can often feel complicated, challenging, or even overwhelming. This online group provides a supportive space to explore the dynamics of your relationships – whether with partners, family members, or friends – while developing deeper self-awareness and practical skills to foster healthier connections. Limited to 8 members, weekly sessions focus on understanding attachment styles and how they influence relationships; learning to set and maintain healthy boundaries; identifying patterns blocking connection; developing effective communication skills; and navigating conflict resolution with confidence and clarity.

As an integrative psychotherapist and trauma therapist, my approach is rooted in curiosity: seeking to understand what may be getting in the way of what you most want for yourself. I weave innovative contemporary approaches into how I work, including IFS, SE, NARM and Somatic EMDR. I work inclusively with all people, couples and groups in the exploration of personal and professional issues, relationships, low self-esteem, identity, diversity, addiction, compulsive behaviours, life transitions and trauma. While trauma is a reality for many people who seek therapy, experience has shown me it doesn't have to be a life sentence.

Similarly to the once weekly group members develop an increased awareness of how they experience and are experienced by others. This results in the possibility of changing unhelpful patterns of relating and thereby having more meaningful personal and professional lives and relationships. The increased regularity of the twice weekly setting allows for a noticeably richer exploration of relationship issues, particularly around issues of trust and intimacy. Issues are able to be more thoroughly examined and the added support and challenges in a twice weekly group can speed up the process of change.

Counselling and Psychotherapy can help you feel more in the driving seat of your life, lowering anxiety and increasing your wellbeing. I have worked in the field of mental health and wellbeing for thirty years and focus on children, adults and families. Life today places many demands on us that can be distressing and overwhelming. Traumatic events can leave us lost and unable to recover. Sessions offer the ability to manage emotions, overcome symptoms and focus on what is important to you.
Therapeutic change is an enormously complex process that occurs through an intricate interplay of human experiences. Therapy group provides a chance to gain insight about ourselves and our own grieving process and to put this learning to work while helping others in the group. As a group member we have an opportunity to hear how others manage their difficult moments and to consider options we haven't thought about before.

Clients know me for my warmth, natural optimism and deep understanding, which they say, comes from the wealth of knowledge and life experience. I aim to connect in a real and authentic way, which puts both of us at ease and allows us to feel safe enough to discuss issues you wanted to talk about for a long time, but never felt you were able to. That includes relationship problems, anger issues, depression, lack of confidence, abuse, depression, bereavement, anxiety, addiction and personality disorders. Working together might help you to draw on your own internal resources, bringing clarity and creating options in your life.
This is a group specifically for anyone who struggles with a sense of loneliness and isolation and wishes they could have more connection in their lives. This group is facilitated by an experienced practitioner, and it seeks to answer the question; 'how can we build more connection? , What are the obstacles?

My primary therapeutic grounding is in Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), an approach to change that’s solution focused, practical and geared towards achieving goals specific to your life circumstances and challenges you feel are holding you back. Over the years, I've done extensive professional training so I tailor my approach to each unique individual. My ideal client is curious, open to discussing and exploring ideas and keen to pursue lasting personal transformation. This a real challenge which takes great courage. Successful therapy requires some degree of trust in the process and collaborative therapeutic alliance.

Unexpected events occur that feel difficult to deal with, or we might feel ‘stuck’, with difficult thoughts and feelings getting in the way of living the life we would like to live. Many people have similar experiences and it can be useful to meet others and work together in small groups to overcome challenges. I currently offer small group sessions (5-8 people max) of twelve sessions lasting 1.5 hours each for (1) women with anxiety and/or low self-confidence, (2) women with autism spectrum condition (ASC).

FAQs - About Group Therapy and Support Groups
How can I find a support group in SE21?
To find a support group in your area, start by entering your city, postcode, or the name of the group into the search bar at the top of the page. When searching, consider whether you prefer an in-person or virtual group. This can help you decide how broad your geographic search should be. If you are open to virtual groups, you might want to search by state instead of just your city, especially if there are limited options nearby.
Once you complete your search, you can use the filters to narrow the results by selecting specialties (such as grief, trauma, or eating disorders), therapeutic approaches, age groups, and other criteria to find a group that best fits your needs.

How does group therapy work?
Group therapy is led by one or more trained therapists and provides a space where participants can process their experiences and learn from others facing similar challenges. Groups may focus on a specific issue—such as addiction, grief, physical illnesses, parenting, or caregiving—or they may center around a particular therapeutic approach, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), social skill development, or Exposure Therapy. Some groups are also designed for specific populations, such as teens, veterans, or LGBTQ+ individuals.
It’s also important to distinguish group therapy from peer-led support groups, like Alcoholics Anonymous. While both can offer valuable support, therapy groups are typically led by licensed professionals and follow a more structured format. Therapy groups often meet for a fixed length of time with a consistent group of members, while many peer support groups meet for an indefinite period of time with members coming and going.

What are the benefits of group therapy?
Group therapy offers several important benefits. It brings together people facing similar challenges—whether related to mental health, physical health, or life transitions—and creates a supportive environment where participants can exchange feedback, share experiences, and learn from one another. Hearing different perspectives can help individuals discover new coping strategies and practical tools they may not have encountered on their own. Sharing personal experiences, such as coping with a serious illness or navigating family struggles, can also reduce feelings of isolation and foster a sense of connection and understanding. In addition to emotional support, group members often gain useful, real-world advice from peers who have faced similar situations.
Group therapy is typically more affordable than individual therapy and, for certain conditions, can be equally effective. Many groups also include structured activities—such as guided journaling, cognitive-behavioural exercises, or role-playing—to help participants develop concrete skills they can apply in daily life.

Is group therapy as effective as individual therapy?
It is difficult to make a blanket statement about the effectiveness of support groups, as they vary widely in focus and the conditions they address. However, support groups can be highly valuable in helping individuals gain emotional support and achieve meaningful treatment outcomes. For certain conditions, such as substance use, research has shown that group therapy can be particularly effective—sometimes just as effective as individual therapy—in supporting long-term recovery.
Many professionals attribute the effectiveness of group therapy to the unique benefits of the group setting, which fosters peer-to-peer learning and a sense of connection through shared experiences. Group settings also offer accountability and encouragement from both facilitators and fellow participants, which helps sustain motivation and supports continued progress. These factors together play a key role in promoting the overall effectiveness of group therapy.

How much does group therapy cost?
Group therapy is typically less expensive than individual therapy, with sessions typically costing between £45 to £60 each. In comparison, individual therapy can cost anywhere from £60 to £150 or more per session, even with insurance. Some therapists or organizations offer low-cost or free group therapy options, particularly through community centers or non-profit organizations. In some cases, groups may require payment upfront for a set number of sessions, such as paying for six weekly sessions at the first meeting. However, many providers offer payment plans to help make participation more accessible if this upfront payment is required.
Does insurance cover group therapy?
If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your group therapy sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for group therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
How long does group therapy last?
The length of each group therapy session typically ranges from 45 minutes to two hours, depending on the therapy approach, the group’s goals, and how often the group meets. In some cases, group therapy is part of a larger treatment program, such as an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), where group sessions complement individual therapy and are scheduled as part of the program’s overall structure.
The duration of participation in a group also varies. Some groups are designed to be short-term, lasting anywhere from 6 to 24 weeks—for example, bereavement groups or skills-based groups like those using Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Other groups may be longer-term, lasting a year or more, and some ongoing support groups meet indefinitely, allowing participants to stay as long as they find the group helpful.

What are the limitations of support groups?
Support groups offer many benefits, but they also have certain limitations. Unlike therapy groups, many support groups do not provide formal therapeutic treatment and are not led by licensed mental health professionals. For individuals seeking clinical treatment for specific mental health diagnoses—such as depression, eating disorders, or substance use—individual therapy or group therapy led by a licensed professional may offer more personalised and specialised care.
The effectiveness of a support group also depends heavily on the group’s participants and the overall group dynamic. When members engage respectfully and offer constructive support, the group can foster valuable peer-to-peer learning. However, if certain participants dominate discussions, provide inaccurate advice, or create conflict, it can disrupt the group’s sense of safety and reduce its effectiveness. Confidentiality can also be harder to maintain in support groups, particularly in open groups where participants can join or leave at any time. With new members regularly entering the group, it can be more difficult to build and sustain a consistent sense of trust and privacy.
