Andrea Bonior Ph.D.
Andrea Bonior, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist, keynote speaker, professor, and best-selling author. Her book Detox Your Thoughts: Quit Negative Self-Talk for Good and Discover The Life You've Always Wanted, which grew out of a viral mental health challenge she created for Buzzfeed, was just released. For fifteen years, she was the voice behind the mental health advice column Baggage Check for the Washington Post, which included weekly live online chats on Tuesdays. She has served on the faculty of Georgetown University for thirteen years, where she recently won a national award for excellence in teaching given by the Society for The Teaching of Psychology (a division of the American Psychological Association.) She also recently released a course for LinkedIn Learning on finding balance when working from home with children.
She received her B.A. with distinction in psychology from Yale University, with an additional major in American Studies. She completed her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology at American University, with post-doctoral work at George Washington University. Specializing in the treatment of young adults, relationships, and life transitions, Dr. Bonior's additional clinical interests include anxiety disorders, eating disorders, women's issues, alcohol abuse, and grief and loss. A musician, she holds a special interest in the performing arts and has served as a psychological consultant to university musical theater departments and even an off-Broadway show. She consults with writers on mental health plotlines for books, film, and television.

She makes regular television appearances, providing a psychological perspective on current events, lifestyle issues, relationships and pop culture. Her first book, The Friendship Fix: The Complete Guide to Choosing, Losing, and Keeping Up With Your Friends debuted in April 2011. Her second book, Psychology: Essential Thinkers, Classic Theories, and How They Inform Your World , a Publisher's Weekly best-seller, was released in September 2016.
