Hi there! I'm Madeleine, and I have created Correlate Counselling; A fully inclusive couples, relationship, and individual counselling service in the heart of Worcester City centre. I believe our relationships are the most important parts of being human. Both our relationship with ourselves and those close to us impact our wellbeing, and so my work focuses on connecting, developing and maintaining healthy relationships through counselling. I work holistically, encouraging reflection, self awareness and a space to release the weight of our experiences.

Reasons for having Counselling: You might be struggling with your mood – stress, anxiety, fight and flight, overwhelmed. You tend to focus on others, and their needs, to the detriment of your own - in your relationships and career. It might feel like you’re in a vicious cycle. There is a way out. My approach: A solution-focused approach, embedded in well-established therapies – CBT, Psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. I encourage having clear goals and collaboration for better outcomes. I specialised in brief work, focusing on a particular issue.

Life can feel really overwhelming sometimes. Maybe you’re dealing with anxiety that just won’t go away, the weight of something painful from your past, or the deep sadness of losing someone. You might feel stuck in patterns that aren’t helping, struggling with negative thoughts, self-doubt, or even flashbacks that bring up past trauma unexpectedly. Perhaps you’re finding it hard to sleep, constantly on edge, or feeling like your emotions are too much to handle on your own. I use a gentle, trauma-informed approach with tools like mindfulness and CBT to help you feel more balanced, confident, and ready to take on life again.

Accepting people for who they are is very much who I am as a person. This comes from the struggles I have had myself around being accepted as me. I am neurwork in a fully accessibile office for wheelchairs and can make adjustments where possible to meet your needs. My website provides full details. Struggling with our mental health can be debilitating for many and reaching out for support can take a great amount of energy. You may to name a few have a loss in confidence, trust issues, low self-esteem, feel different to others. You may not know what you need, but that's okay, I can support you with that.

Psychotherapy, or counselling, offers a confidential, regular and supportive time and place to talk about your difficulties, concerns or questions in life. It allows you to examine your experiences and relationships, share your problems, develop your understanding of yourself, and consider your choices. It is somewhere for you to do your own thinking, with the support of a professional alongside you.

You’re always on. Overthinking, second-guessing, feeling sick with worry — and somehow still getting things done. People might not even realise how much you’re struggling beneath the surface. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, but it didn’t go deep enough, or didn’t quite fit. You’re looking for something that actually works — not just to cope, but to feel calmer, freer, more like yourself. Whether it's panic, OCD, phobias, perfectionism, high functioning or general anxiety or burnout, you're ready to stop just surviving and start living.

Being challenged is an inevitable part of life and everyone may experience difficult moments at times in day-to-day life. Our natural reactions to life challenges may involve experiencing unpleasant emotions such as anxiety, low mood, shame, humiliation, and guilt. These reactions, however, may become “sticky” and you may feel unable to get rid of them. This can significantly and negatively affect your personal and professional life. My therapy offers a safe space and an opportunity for you to go through and develop a new understanding about your unprocessed emotions that would help you begin formulating a new way forward.

Hi! I’m a qualified counsellor (BACP) and I’m in my final year of training as a psychotherapist (UKCP). Coming to therapy is often a new and daunting experience; you might have a very clear goal that you want to work towards, or you might know that something needs to change but be unsure what. That’s okay! I will work with you to explore what might be keeping you stuck and help you decide what comes next. I believe in building a therapeutic relationship based on trust and authenticity to meet you where you are and create a space where it is safe to be you. I aim to honour all parts of you and explore your unique experiences.

Sometimes, we come into therapy feeling like we 'should' be coping better, or unsure of how to take the next step. Maybe you're adjusting to a big life change or feeling disconnected from the people around you. I work with a diverse range of individuals, drawing on over 10 years of experience supporting adults and university students. Over the past five years, I’ve supported women through the emotional adjustments of parenthood, including navigating mental health challenges and coping with traumatic births. Therapy is a space to explore your feelings, make sense of your experience, and move forward at your own pace.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
