Hello, I'm new on 'Psychology Today', but I have been practising counselling and psychotherapy in North Wales, North Shropshire and Cheshire for ten years. Over time I have seen a profile among my clients, who come to see me about anxiety, stress, depression and low mood, and addictions. Also over time I have come to specialise in trauma: this can be PTSD however one understands that, or it can be an event or series of events that just will not leave the person alone, will not give them peace. I have learned methods and interventions that help clients to effectively get over this and the other issues that I have mentioned above.

I don’t believe labelling humans is particularly helpful or just getting rid of symptoms of anxiety and depression , for example, without having an in-depth understanding of your experience, in order for your health improvement to have a long lasting effect.
I provide an explorative space where you are able to find more clarity, happiness, more joy in life and feel more at peace within yourself, for example. I understand the importance for you to feel safe, and for you to feel that, whatever you bring, you are highly valued and genuinely respected. I believe that every individual is unique and I will tailor the therapeutic process to what suits you, working collaboratively, with a naturally developing process according to what is important and of value to you. Counselling can help us find new meanings and directions in life.

My specialist area is recurrent anxiety, depression , past and recent trauma related to abuse, relationship problems, self-harm and self-esteem.
My clients come to me from all walks of life and have experienced trauma recently or in the past. This has resulted in my clients suffering from intense anxiety and fears and/or severe depression as well as relationship difficulties. My clients can feel stuck, vulnerable and helpless, which has such a disabling impact on their lives. I have the ability to initiate and maintain a confidential therapeutic relationship, where my clients feel safe, experience hope and a reduction of their psychological symptoms. My clients leave therapy feeling empowered and able to manage life's stresses. I have clinics in Chester, Heswall and Mold.

I work with clients experiencing depression , anxiety, grief and loss, bereavement, negative automatic thoughts, low self-esteem, low self-worth and confidence.
Is this you? Is your mind clouded all the time, have you got 200 things running through your head, do you struggle to concentrate, find it hard to make decisions?   Do you doubt yourself lots, low-confidence, negative thoughts, think more of others than yourself?   Are you living in the past, grieving loved ones, not dealing with your problems, involved in toxic relationships?   Is it time to stop and think about your mental health and wellbeing?

Are you feeling stuck? The only constant is change, yet sometimes change seems so difficult. I will work with you to find what's blocking you changing into who you really are. I won't diagnose or label you. I'll treat you as an individual who has their own unique history. Unpleasant symptoms like anxiety, addictions, phobias and depression are often rooted in early trauma which is surfacing to be healed. I'll help you reprocess any traumatic memories as well as looking at any current circumstances which are keeping you stuck.

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Wrexham. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
