It takes courage to reach out and ask for help. It's the first step towards change. It's a brave step, and a step worth taking. Change starts with you. Its hard to take this sort of journey alone. You need someone by your side that you can trust, that you have confidence in, and someone who believes in you too. It's a difficult process to revisit the past and to heal from it. Sometimes it's absolutely necessary in order to move on with your life and be your best version of yourself. The past can't be changed of course, but the way you live with it can be.

Presentations have been ‘medical issues’ like anxiety, depression and bereavement, to more general life difficulties.
Throughout our life-time there will always come a time when we all struggle with issues. I believe that we always do the best we can when those issues arise, even though sometimes we haven’t yet developed the skills to deal with them in an effective and healthy way. I think that this is where counselling can help - I see my role as a provider of a safe non-judgemental place where learning, growth and change can happen. And everyone can do it, whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent.

I work with people who find themselves at a point where life no longer feels familiar — often following a significant change, loss, or life transition.
I aim to offer a grounded, non-judgemental space where you can explore what’s going on beneath the surface. I work collaboratively and organically, adapting to each individual. Some clients are ready to explore things in depth early on, while for others this develops gradually over time. The work is often present-focused at first, while gently linking back

Having worked for more than 20 years in the voluntary sector and education, supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing, I have experience of working with a range of issues, from anxiety and depression to bereavement and trauma.
By learning to understand what drives us, we are able to change and grow.... and most importantly, learn what to do when we get ‘stuck'. I recognise that the first steps in counselling are often not easy, so will make sure we go at a pace that suits you; therapy can be short or long term, we can decide this as we go along. I am a qualified psychotherapist, couple's therapist and fully trained clinical supervisor, offering a private space in my garden studio, where together we can explore whatever brings you to therapy. I trained in Emotion Focussed Therapy which works on the premise that our emotions guide everything we do.

I work extremely well with emotions allowing you to activate and focus on your emotional state and thus helping you to manage problematic emotional situations and self-experiences. I integrate Mindfulness Practice principles and Mindfulness training within my practice, in order to helping clients to learn to become more self-aware and more present in the present, thus alleviating stress and anxiety in general. In addition, I support my clients to develop a healthy relationship with themselves and with their body, as I believe it’s paramount to consider the needs of our system in general, when working with our mental health.

Bereavement Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
