I have many years of experience as a Counsellor and Hypnotherapist and I know that the reason you are even reading this is because you or someone you know needs help. How do we start? A simple chat, either over the phone or online. We will discuss your worries or issues and together work out the best way forward. This may be just one method or a combination of therapies. You will be in control of this and it can be changed as we progress, I offer this in a safe, confidential and non judgemental environment.

Life can be dark and confusing at times, and right now it has been a long year in a pandemic, so it is understandable to feel lonely, low, scared or hopeless. Whatever our reason for going to therapy, it’s about having someone listen; to our fears, anxieties, losses and, our hopes and joys to be heard. I offer a safe and confidential space for you to explore these difficulties and gain a deeper understanding and connection to yourself. Alongside a talking therapy space I also offer creative psychotherapy.

I qualified as a ChildLine counsellor in 2006 and worked there for many years. Currently I practise as an integrative face to face psychotherapist/counsellor mainly with adults. I have experience in a wide range of issues having had clients referred through their GP and through self-referral. I treat every client as an individual and so the approach to counselling will also be individual and with respect to your individual circumstances. I strongly believe in therapy being within your control but with the support and encouragement needed to understand your situation and to work on how you may want to change things in your life.

Often in life we get stuck in patterns which, though once useful ways of being and relating, have now outgrown their usefulness to us, perhaps beginning to get in our way even. Psychotherapy can offer both the space to express, grasp and understand these patterns and then the support and challenge to grow in ways which seem right for you. I am currently seeing clients in person or online. I draw on a range of sources to bring my curiosity to meet you as a whole person. I am interested in your thoughts, feelings, your actions and what may be going on in your body as well as what may emerge in the here and now of our relationship.

Throughout our life-time there will always come a time when we all struggle with issues. I believe that we always do the best we can when those issues arise, even though sometimes we haven’t yet develop the skills to deal with them in an effective and healthy way. I think that this is where counselling can help - I see my role as a provider of a safe non-judgemental place where learning, growth and change can happen. And everyone can do it.

I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist offering a private space in my garden studio, where together we can explore whatever brings you to therapy. I recognise that the first steps in counselling are often not easy, so will make sure we go at a pace that suits you; therapy can be short or long term, we can decide this as we go along. I trained in Emotion Focussed Therapy which works on the premise that our emotions guide everything we do. By learning to understand what drives us we are able to change and grow and most importantly, learn what to do when we get ‘stuck'.

I specialise in working with adults and young people living with the effects of the trauma of childhood sexual abuse, and rape and sexual assault. You may be living with overwhelming anxiety, depression, flashbacks, nightmares, panic attacks, self-harm, addictions and suicidal thoughts. Sometimes you might feel as though you do not know who you are or that you have no worth. I can also work with you if you have experienced other types of trauma or if you are feeling paralysed or overwhelmed by your emotions or having difficulty coping with everyday life and you do not know the reason why and you do not know how to make a change.

Teen Counsellors
Adolescence can be a time of both disorientation and discovery. The transitional period can raise questions of independence and identity; as adolescents cultivate their sense of self, they may face difficult choices about academics, friendship, sexuality, gender identity, drugs, and alcohol.

Most teens have a relatively egocentric perspective on life; a state of mind that usually abates with age. They often focus on themselves and believe that everyone else—from a best friend to a distant crush—is focused on them too. They may grapple with insecurities and feelings of being judged. Relationships with family members often take a backseat to peer groups, romantic interests, and appearance, which teens perceive as increasingly important during this time.

The transition can naturally lead to anxiety about physical development, evolving relationships with others, and one's place in the larger world. Mild anxiety and other challenges are typical, but serious mental health conditions also emerge during adolescence. Finding a teen therapist in Swansea and addressing a disorder early on can help ensure the best possible outcome.
