Hi, I'm Angharad. I offer a gentle, safe, and confidential space where you can explore whatever’s on your mind - whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, navigating relationship challenges, processing grief, or simply sensing that something doesn’t feel quite right in your life. Many people come to see me after having tried more structured therapies like CBT wanting something deeper that gets to the root of their difficulties. Rather than offering tools and coping strategies, I help you work through the emotional and relational patterns beneath your struggles which leads to lasting change through deepening self-understanding.

I'm available most afternoons and in the evenings.
As a person-centred, trauma-informed counsellor, I have four years of experience working with individuals experiencing anxiety, trauma, personal and professional relationship challenges and general mental health concerns. I am here to help you explore the threads of your experiences without judgement and only with compassion. I believe that one of the most basic human needs is being seen and being heard and I bring a heart-led and deeply compassionate approach to my counselling work. My own lived experiences have informed my practice, strengthened my empathy and guided me towards supporting others through their own experiences.

Hi, I support adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, or the impact of trauma, and who would like support in living a more fulfilling life. Whether you’re navigating relationship difficulties, work-related challenges, or struggling with how you feel or think about yourself, I offer a safe and supportive space to explore this. Together, we can explore the 'why behind the what', to understand how patterns of thinking, feeling, or behaving have developed, while giving you space to talk openly, process painful experiences, and develop tools that support lasting change.

I’ve been a client twice, the first time for over 2 years. So I understand how hard it is to be vulnerable and open up to someone. I also know that therapy can make a big positive difference in our mental health and relationships, by helping us discover who we truly are, work through tough feelings from the past and present, and be ourselves, unapologetically. I’m familiar with feelings like sadness, guilt, shame, anger, and anxiety; these are part of being human. Therapy helps us recognise these feelings, name them, and learn ways to manage them. I offer counselling in English, French, or Arabic.

Often people wonder how counselling or talking to someone can help. When you see a Counsellor/Therapist, you will have a consistency and continuity of a professional relationship, which provides you a space where you are being properly listened to. This can then allow you to think, and get a clear idea of what is going on for you. Together with your Counsellor/Therapist you can begin to explore and unpack your ideas, views, opinions, etc. This could lead you to more clarity and you may become more mindful of yourself.

Hi, I'm Neil. I appreciate that life can sometimes feel difficult, stressful and overwhelming. Many of us struggle with relationships, responsibilities and the pressures of balancing our work and home lives. Sometimes you may feel anxious or depressed without understanding the reason why, or have experienced an event that you're struggling to work through. Maybe you just feel flat or unmotivated, or perhaps you're finding life hard to face after losing someone close to you. If any of this resonates with how you feel, I can help you.

The distressing impact of depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and addictions are often confusing and difficult to make sense of. They are often rooted in our earlier life and relationships but triggered by current circumstances in the present. By exploring your problems in the context of your past and present life, in therapy, this will help you to make sense of your experiences. Through this understanding you will be in a better place, with the guidance of your therapist, to make changes that will make a positive difference to your life.

Available outside of these hours, if needs be and possible face2face.
I have never imagined and perhaps will never imagine my ideal client. Life is such a rich tapestry of individuals, all with their own perspective, sense and grip on reality. We all encounter troubles in many guises at certain points in our lives. Many clients enter the therapy space often unsure how to articulate their wants & needs. Only through the slow therapeutic process of the client's journey with me walking alongside them can we begin to piece together just where they are and where they need to be with their own gentle enquiry and my genuine curiosity & support to help facilitate growth and change.

How do I find a therapist near me who is accepting new patients?
Finding a therapist who is actively accepting new patients can feel overwhelming, so it can be helpful to narrow your search down as much as possible. Use the Psychology Today Therapy Directory to search specifically for therapists who are in your area and who are accepting new patients right now, so you are not wasting time reaching out to providers who have a closed waitlist. From there, you can narrow your search further by therapist characteristics, specialty, and whether you prefer in-person or online appointments. Once you find someone who looks like a good fit, you can reach out directly to confirm their availability and request an initial consultation.

How long does it typically take to get an appointment with a therapist?
Wait times for therapists in the UK vary widely depending on whether you go through the NHS or seek private care. Through the NHS, wait times typically range from a few weeks to several months depending on your area and the urgency of your referral. Private therapists are generally available much faster, often within a few days to a couple of weeks. Wait times also differ by therapist type. Counsellors tend to be more widely available than clinical psychologists, who hold a doctoral degree and are fewer in number. In addition, therapists who specialise in trauma, eating disorders, or child and adolescent therapy also tend to have longer wait times due to the limited number of professionals relative to demand.

What are my options if no therapists near me are accepting new patients right now?
If you are having difficulty finding a local therapist with availability, there are a few steps you can take. First, consider expanding your search to include online therapy, not just providers in your immediate geographic location. Online therapy has made it possible to see a licensed therapist in your area without needing to travel, and in many cases online providers have shorter wait times than local in-person practices. Second, your GP can serve as a helpful bridge while you wait. They can conduct an initial evaluation and, in some cases, connect you with local mental health services more quickly than a self-referral would. Third, if your symptoms feel urgent, community mental health services may be available regardless of your ability to pay for private care. They can offer psychiatric assessment, crisis intervention, and medication management to help stabilise your situation in the interim while you wait for a longer-term therapist.
