At certain life stages we may experience anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, feelings of a loss or meaningless, loss of direction or purpose, or difficulty with building meaningful relationships. I will work with you to identify what these symptoms mean and how they may be pointing you to discover a deeper sense of self. My approach is integrative and allows for self-discovery. My methodology offers focus, allowing you to explore and connect to a truer sense of who you are. I encourage you to develop a sense of curiosity to understand yourself more profoundly. We will work together, to support your needs.

I believe it takes great courage to reach out and look for support. However, I know it can be scary and overwhelming looking for the right person. Over the years I have been a therapist, I have supported many individuals to take back control over their lives and find the healing they had been long searching for. My training has enabled me to be able to work with complex emotions at a deep level. This is particularly effective when working with trauma and the impact of early childhood experiences. My warm and gentle approach ensures that our work together enables you to feel safe and grounded, working at a pace that suit you.

Life can become overwhelming, confusing, and difficult to manage. Experiences such as loss, bereavement and major life changes like a medical crisis can make us lose our sense of self and purpose. Depression, anxiety and personality disorders can distort our sense of self, rob us off our full personal potential and quality of life leaving us feeling depleted. Therapy is a place to regain and restore your sense of self and purpose and to help you turn these experiences to an opportunity to grow.

I often work with people who want to find a way to let go of the things that are holding them back. They want to feel more like the person they have a sense they could be if only they knew how. They want more authenticity and better relationships - or just to feel okay. Sometimes people have lost touch with their own self-worth. A crisis may have occurred. They may be struggling to feel any hope. Emotions and thoughts may be overwhelming or there can be a sense of numbness. During initial sessions, they might say things like they want to find clarity, feel confident, lighter, less burdened, and have a greater sense of freedom.

I am an at depth body orientated psychotherapeutic counsellor (UKCP accredited) and a yoga therapist (BWY, Ayurveda dip). I combine my skills and experience to offer therapy to couples and individuals who benefit from a somatic focus. Soma means ‘of the body’ and concerns our living, day to day, breathing, feeling, moving, thinking experiences. This method respects and utilises the connection between body and mind.

Although older than many, I bring decades of life experience to my counselling. I have experienced most 'rites of passage' and find that my wide experience enables me to work sympathetically and non-judgementally with my clients: there's nothing you can tell me that will shock me! We will work together in a welcoming, confidential environment to enable you to better understand your needs and the options open to you. With my support, you will be able to share your difficulties, worries and fears, developing a greater understanding of yourself, your situation and those long-standing difficulties that you feel you struggle with.

I integrate my experience both as a Core Process psychotherapist and a Humanistic Existentialist counsellor in order to help clients stay with their distress and move through difficulty. Core Process psychotherapy integrates Eastern Buddhist philosophy and embodied practice with Western psychodynamic techniques in order to help understand personality formation and connect to our innate health. The client’s difficulties in their lives can be fully explored. Alongside this, the client is also invited to deepen into their awareness of their experiences, known as coming into witness consciousness.

I have a particular interest in trauma and how it impacts our nervous system: PTSD and C-PTSD, dissociation, hearing voices, addictive behaviours and coping mechanisms and their link to childhood trauma; 'ACE's' (Adverse Childhood Experiences), and how these affect us as adults. Trauma comes in many forms; obvious, overt ones such as physical or sexual abuse, car accidents, war, disasters etc, and also less obvious or covert forms like emotional abuse or neglect, bullying, or just 'not getting what we need' on an emotional level. I'm a member of ISST-D, a trainee member of UKCP and BCPC, and have specialist trauma training.

Whether you are coming to therapy with a particular issue, a general sense of unwellness, or a deeper search for purpose and meaning, I intend to walk alongside you to help you unpack your personal story, better understand your feelings, and gradually find out and stand in who you really are. As an integrative therapist, I work creatively and intuitively by drawing from a variety of approaches — from psychodynamic, to Jungian, humanistic and existential — all the while holding in mind a
transpersonal
perspective, and a firm belief in the capacity of the human psyche to heal its wounds and break free of limitations.

I am a fully qualified and BACP registered
Transpersonal
and Integrative Psychotherapist who works somatically – with the body, nervous system and subtle energy-body, whilst honouring the spiritual aspect of our human experience.
If you have experienced something very upsetting or traumatic, your mind/body might still be reeling in the aftermath. Your wonderfully clever autonomic nervous system works hard to keep you safe: to fight, or to flee, or to numb everything out, before your conscious brain has even noticed what’s happening. These unconscious responses may not always serve you, however. When traumatic charge is held in our bodies long after the threat has passed, we can experience all sorts of debilitating symptoms, from anxiety, to depression, insomnia, self-hatred, comfort eating, self-harming, or relating to others in ways that we later regret.
