My specialist area is recurrent anxiety, depression , past and recent trauma related to abuse, relationship problems, self-harm and self-esteem.
My clients come to me from all walks of life and have experienced trauma recently or in the past. This has resulted in my clients suffering from intense anxiety and fears and/or severe depression as well as relationship difficulties. My clients can feel stuck, vulnerable and helpless, which has such a disabling impact on their lives. I have the ability to initiate and maintain a confidential therapeutic relationship, where my clients feel safe, experience hope and a reduction of their psychological symptoms. My clients leave therapy feeling empowered and able to manage life's stresses. I have clinics in Chester, Heswall and Mold.

I believe wholeheartedly in the effectiveness of talk therapy. The science behind the brain chemistry of the human brain and how it affects our behaviours is noteworthy and interesting. However, it is only part of the story. The use of anti-depressants, and anti-psychotic drugs in more severe cases, can help some people but these chemical interventions treat only the symptoms of depression , anxiety and feeling sad. My way of working together with you goes straight to the source. I validate every part of your experience of being human including body chemistry, behaviours, social dynamics, and if applicable, your spiritual dimension.

You may be anxious, depressed or perhaps experience issues in some of your relationships; you may feel you are not getting the most out of your life. I work with the unconscious through dreams and imagery to help you connect more fully with yourself, giving you access to your own deeper needs and desires clearing the way for you to change as you chose. You may need the convenience of working online or via the telephone (F2F not available). Often my way of working appeals to those who are interested in the arts and/or the spiritual realm and those who appreciate deeper ways of working, in safe and supportive relationship.

Within each of us lies the vision and hope for the life we want to live. Yet, we can feel overwhelmed by inner or outer challenges, fears, negative beliefs, low self-esteem, anxiety or depression . In many years of practice, I have seen the resilience of the human spirit. As a Spiritual Psychotherapist, I work with traditional approaches, as well as those rooted in Transpersonal Psychology, Archetypal Psychology and Shamanism which recognize the power and strength inherent within to facilitate change. My aim is to act as guide as clients address past pain and present circumstances that limit the ability to live a life in full bloom.

I don't know what brings you here today but looking for counselling and finding the right therapist takes courage. Life can be hard and asking for support is difficult at times. My goal is to make sure you feel seen and heard. Whatever you are struggling with, whether it is a troubling memory that doesn't seem to leave you alone, a day to day struggle that you feel is holding you back, an experience you're dealing with and didn't think you'd face, or if you're feeling at the end of yourself - talking about these things is a huge step toward resolving your issues and moving to a place of thriving in the life you want to live.

As a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist my main focus is helping clients understand and manage their problems within this framework. CBT is an active therapy, present focused, collaborative and structured allowing the clients to become ‘their own therapist’. This type of therapy empowers the client to take responsibility for their own therapeutic journey, acquiring the skills and techniques to maintain changes made in therapy for the long term. I adhere to the standards of conduct, performance and ethics required by my accrediting body the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
