I was a client myself twice in my life and I know first-hand how difficult it can be to take that step. However, I also know that therapy can be life-changing because growth can only happen when we push our boundaries and step outside our comfort zone. My role is to be with you as you set sail on this journey. Feelings like sadness, guilt, shame, anger, and anxiety are all too familiar to me and many others because this is where our humanity lies. My role is to help you name those feelings and find ways to navigate them and cope with them. I offer counselling in English, French or Arabic.

My clients come to me from all walks of life and have experienced trauma recently or in the past. This has resulted in my clients suffering from intense anxiety and fears and/or severe depression as well as relationship difficulties. My clients can feel stuck, vulnerable and helpless, which has such a disabling impact on their lives. I have the ability to initiate and maintain a confidential therapeutic relationship, where my clients feel safe, experience hope and a reduction of their psychological symptoms. My clients leave therapy feeling empowered and able to manage life's stresses. I have clinics in Chester, Heswall and Mold.

When you feel the need to speak to someone, you want someone who can really understand you and what you going through, someone you can relate to. The relationship is what matters most, you want someone you can find it easier to trust and makes you feel like they can understand you. Working with all age group has given me opportunity to relate to people in so many level, no matter what their going through. Growing up with my great gran, has given me wisdom and insight that I need to top up what I've learn about working with people. Adapting different cultures, environment, learning from people I meet each day, it'll be my honour.

Are you finding emotional difficulties particularly challenging? Emotions are a normal human function but sometimes they can be intense and interfere with our family life, relationships, work and our general well-being. Common emotional challenges include anxiety, insecurity , low mood and anger. Do any of these resonate with you?

I am a BACP accredited psychotherapist with over 15 years experience within private practice and both public and financial sectors at a senior level. Sometimes, people are clear about what they are struggling with: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, PTSD, grief/loss, personal or work related issues/relationships etc. Others may be less clear and feel that what they are experiencing "is not bad enough". Whichever group you fall into, if you have an experience or situation that is impacting your daily life; either something that happened years ago or more recently, working to find a way forward, is your choice.

At the time of reading this you have probably scrolled through lots of profiles, and are now thinking "How on earth do I choose a counsellor out of all of these people who all say similar things?" It can be really tough to reach out for support in the first place, and then you are faced with yet another hard decision! I am a person centred counsellor which means I'm not here to tell you what to do. The way I see it, people who reach out for counselling often already feel like they have a ball of tangled wool in their head, so I'm here to support you to untangle things in your own way and in your own time.

I understand the difficulties and anxieties you may have in admitting that you can’t work through challenges and issues on your own, and this is ok. These may be, issues which are starting to affect your personal life, relationships, work or more specific issues such as bereavement, relationship issues such as separation or divorce, or work related issues such as stress, redundancy or retirement. You may never have thought about counselling before, but taking that first courageous step to reach out and ask for help may be your first step to working through these challenges and towards the life you want and hope for.

How can I find a therapist in Flintshire?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counsellors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counselling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
