Whether it's retirement/empty nest, physical life changes (menopause or health condition), a move to a new town or job or loss, such as recent death or end of relationship, I can help navigate the rough times by working with issues of identity (change in life roles)
self esteem
and creating a supportive environment for processing emotions.
Some people have been lucky enough to have at least one person in their life who can listen to their problems and not be judgmental. Most people don't. As a Psychotherapist, I have very much enjoyed seeing the positive reaction and the "light bulb coming on" (that Aha! moment) when I give them the feedback that they need. As a former Educator, I rely a lot on Psychoeducation and talk therapy to help a person understand the "why" of certain behaviors and why they have found themselves in a current situation, thereby helping them move toward better mental health.

Are trauma experiences getting in the way of living a life in line with your goals, beliefs, values, and desires? Does anxiety stop you from doing the things you want to do? Do flashbacks get in the way of functioning at home, work, or school? Have you been diagnosed with a health condition and you’re finding it difficult to adapt? Therapy helps you understand the cause of your symptoms and how to break the cycle. You will learn skills to help you manage these symptoms so that you can achieve other things in your life that are important to you. These might be working, having a family, or simply living trauma-response free.

Are you looking to make a change to improve your health and well-being? Perhaps you have failed to make that change happen so far. Or, you may have no idea of what you need to change to feel fulfilled about your life but you recognise that something in it is not quite right? I understand that life’s challenges are unique and complex to all individuals and that making changes to improve your health and well-being is hard. It is also important to recognise that repeatedly engaging in behaviour that you know isn’t good for you, or sabotaging your own efforts to change, can be a sign of unprocessed emotion and underlying trauma.

“I can offer you a good listening ear. An emotionally warm, nurturing, safe, and secure place to be able to talk about what is happening to you, what is important to you, and what is concerning you that is keeping you “stuck” and not being able to move forward in your life. I can offer you a genuine, non-judgemental attitude allowing you, perhaps for the first time, to express and explore your past, your present, your future, and who your true self is, or will be, without fear of shame. I will be by your side as you go on a journey of personal development. To hold your map when feeling lost whilst you try, but sometimes fail.

My ideal client has autism or Asperger’s syndrome and is aged 3-100. My other ideal client is an individual aged 3-100 who is in a close relationship with someone that has Asperger’s/autism. I see clients in three venues: Corby & Wollaston in Northamptonshire and in Llandudno Junction in North Wales. I have counselled autistic individuals and their families for over 12 years. My practice is informed by my Masters in Autism/PGC in Asperger’s and also from a long relationship with an Asperger’s individual. I am also a mother to Asperger’s individuals. My experience and knowledge therefore is profound.

My clients come to me from all walks of life and have experienced trauma recently or in the past. This has resulted in my clients suffering from intense anxiety and fears and/or severe depression as well as relationship difficulties. My clients can feel stuck, vulnerable and helpless, which has such a disabling impact on their lives. I have the ability to initiate and maintain a confidential therapeutic relationship, where my clients feel safe, experience hope and a reduction of their psychological symptoms. My clients leave therapy feeling empowered and able to manage life's stresses. I have clinics in Chester, Heswall and Mold.

Due to recent storm damage to my office I am currently only working online, I hope to rectify this shortly. I work with a range of clients who are looking to gain a greater understanding of themselves and wish to work towards the best version of them. I believe we are each individuals, there is no one size fits all especially in therapy, we are all unique. I have worked across many areas including working with teens and adults experiencing anxiety, stress, OCD, low
self esteem
and behavioural challenges. I believe that no matter what age we are we can all face our individual challenges and enjoy helping clients move forward.

We all want to change something at some point in our lives – we become dissatisfied with jobs or relationships, our ways of coping become unhelpful (or harmful), we become tired of thinking poorly about ourselves and wish we could just enjoy life instead of worrying about the future or what other people think. Whatever the change is that you’re wanting to make, I am here to support and empower you to achieve it. I’ll do this by creating a safe, relaxed space where you feel comfortable to explore what’s going on for you without fear of any judgment. I’ll also always bring compassion, kindness and a sense of humour too!

Self Esteem Counsellors
Self-esteem lives on a spectrum: Not enough self-regard (or low self esteem) can lead people to become depressed, or to tolerate abusive situations and relationships. Too much self-love (or high self-esteem), results in an off-putting sense of entitlement and an inability to learn from failure. And it's occasionally a sign of clinical narcissism. Quite the opposite of being shy or shyness, yet still on the same spectrum.
