In my work, I draw on EMDR (trauma therapy), CBT, IPT, Video Interaction Guidance (a strengths-based approach supporting attunement in relationships), and compassion-focused approaches. I am currently offering a discounted EMDR rate (£130 for 90 minutes) while finalising accreditation, after three years of EMDR training and experience.

My specialty is the perinatal period, supporting those who experience perinatal mental health and perinatal trauma (including birth trauma or trauma related to eg hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) ).
Through extensive training and over 10 years experience, I draw on a range of models which can support with e.g. processing trauma, building skills around coping with feeling overwhelmed and critical thoughts, and living with grief. Although my specialist is perinatal, I can also offer the above for more general difficulties not focused on perinatal.

If you are struggling with parenting, postnatal depression, miscarriage or your identity during a life transition, you are not alone.
I can work with you short term or for an extended period, depending on your needs. Deeply rooted emotional issues tend to require longer periods of therapy. Psychodynamic therapy reflects on the past, as well as the present and helps you to see the parts of yourself that are hidden from yourself, so that you can gain better understanding and insight.

It can be a very daunting experience trying to find a counsellor. You may have several questions and possibly not be sure if counselling is for you. Talking to a professional can help. My name is Inge, I am a qualified counsellor and I offer an empathetic space for you to explore what is causing you distress, so you can move through your counselling journey at a pace that is comfortable for you. I adopt a person led approach whereby I work with you by continually discussing how the direction your counselling journey is progressing and if it is having the desired effect you had hoped for.

I am a Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS with children, adolescents and families who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including; mental health, attachment and parenting. Sometimes therapy involves seeing the person on their own, and other times it can involve the wider family as well. Our sessions will start by getting to know you better, and what your main difficulties are at present, in the context of your life experiences. Helping you to understand why you are having such difficulties will help us to tailor our psychological intervention to your specific needs. I will be with you every step of the way.

I am a qualified and experienced person-centred/humanistic counsellor. I will work to create a safe space for you and I to explore what is happening for you, or what has happened in the past. Sometimes, you might need to offload things that are causing you stress and pressure, other times, you might have a curiosity or desire to find out why you might be reacting or relating to others the way you do. The range of clients I have worked with has taught me how to adjust my input to be supportive, helpful and productive to our work together. I aim to help you find clarity and insight so that you can move forward in your life.

From the outside you are functioning, but inside you feel on edge or numb. Anxiety shows up as overthinking, panic, sleep issues, people pleasing, or a body that will not settle. You might be carrying trauma, grief, low mood, or relationship patterns that keep repeating. Intimacy may feel confusing, pressured, or loaded with shame, fear, pain, or disconnection. You want calm, confidence, and closeness. You want to understand what is happening in your body and mind, and to feel aligned with your faith and values.

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?
The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?
Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?
A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
