Hi, I'm Miranda, I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist, I help people experiencing emotional distress or personal difficulties explore their issues and find their way to live well. Whether you're struggling in your relationships, questioning who you are and what you want from life or working out how to navigate life changes I can help.  I particularly have an interest in working with those who may be experiencing emotional distress around pregnancy, birth and being a parent - often stressful, these life events have been made so much harder in recent times. If this sounds like you don't hesitate to get in touch.

Hi! I’m Jen, and I’m a Clinical Psychologist providing evidence-based therapy within a non-judgemental and compassionate space. I support adults who experience a range of challenges in their life including those related to life transitions, traumatic events and grief. I also have a particular interest in the perinatal period, and am passionate about providing spaces for parents who are expecting or in the early years of parenthood, to talk about what they are finding difficult. Using a collaborative and person-centered approach, I can draw on therapeutic models which may support you to reach your hopes/goals from therapy.

You are probably feeling very upset, alone and confused, maybe even ashamed and wondering if counselling could help? Everyone who comes to therapy has a unique set of issues but the underlying need to share the distress and be understood, is true for everyone. If you are struggling with parenting, postnatal depression, miscarriage or your identity during a life transition, you are not alone. I have lots of experience working with women (and men) who are struggling with life and want to feel better than they currently do. I also help younger people and teens who may have self esteem issues, feel sad, anxious or be self harming.

I have been working with adult individuals in South Wales since 2013. I do not hold any preconceptions and am genuinely interested to meet new clients, to find out more about them and what it is they want to change. I always ask what each person would like to achieve and I regularly re-visit this goal (or goals) to ensure that our counselling will be as helpful as possible. I believe that my clients have the ability to overcome their problems and I invite them to be as open with me as they choose in order to arrive at the best result for them.

I can offer couples a safe space to explore whatever it is that's troubling you. The way I work is to look at your difficulties as an issue in the relationship between two people. I hold hope that a couple can gain new perspectives about each other and enhance the understanding of each others hidden unmet needs- often stemming from childhood. Whether that be to find a new understanding of being together, or to end the relationship well.

I am a Clinical Psychologist working in the NHS with children, adolescents and families who are experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including; mental health, attachment and parenting. It can be a very daunting experience trying to find a counsellor. You may have several questions and possibly not be sure if counselling is for you. Talking to a professional can help. My name is Inge, I am a qualified counsellor and I offer an empathetic space for you to explore what is causing you distress, so you can move through your counselling journey at a pace that is comfortable for you. I adopt a person led approach whereby I work with you by continually discussing how the direction your counselling journey is progressing and if it is having the desired effect you had hoped for.

What are the most effective ways to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns?

The most effective way to address pregnancy, prenatal, and postpartum concerns is by finding a therapist who has prior experience helping other patients overcome the challenge being faced. For example, a marriage and family therapist may have experience helping couples adjust to their new relationship dynamic. An anxiety specialist may have experience helping with phobias or illness anxiety related to the child’s health. A depression specialist may have experience treating postpartum depression.

When should I seek treatment for prenatal or postpartum concerns?

Pregnancy and the postpartum period involve intense physical and mental changes; a degree of upset and instability is normal. However, if these changes impair daily functioning, it may be time to seek help. This distinction is pertinent for postpartum depression: A period of teariness, irritability, and distress is difficult but normal in the one to two weeks after childbirth (sometimes called the “baby blues.”) But if feelings of sadness and hopelessness persist beyond that period, the person should seek treatment.

How do I manage worries during pregnancy or the postnatal period?

A therapist can help patients develop the tools they need to manage anxieties during or after pregnancy. Cognitive behavioural therapy can help people identify and reframe harmful patterns of thought, and change their behaviours. Other techniques and skills can allow people to develop acceptance, psychological flexibility, self-compassion, communication skills, and more.
