CBT has been proved to be a very effective therapeutic modality to help people manage and overcome struggles they face due to depression and anxiety.
Hello! I am Amo. I am a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and a Counsellor. CBT is an evidenced based psychotherapeutic model, that aims to empower people to overcome their mental health challenges and reach their goals. In the session, we would focus on understanding your problem and identifying the most effective tools and strategies to help you manage the problem. I will provide a safe, warm, and non-judgemental environment for us to work together and explore your mental health related challenges. During each session, we will discuss effective and bespoke tools and strategies that you could apply to overcome these challenges.

Hello, welcome. I can imagine how difficult it must be searching through the profiles trying to find the right therapist. Making the decision to seek help for your child/grandchild is a brave one and sometimes it can be difficult. I have been told by clients that I am calm, warm, welcoming, and approachable; and can put them at ease. I am a Child and Adolescent Therapist who specialises in 7-18 years olds who until recently worked in CAMHS for the NHS for over six years. I decided to work in private practice after seeing so many children whom I could help turned away by CAMHS or who were waiting a long time to get help.

I have 20 years' experience working as a clinical psychologist in the NHS and in private practice since gaining my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Throughout this time, I have been supporting adults with a very wide range of difficulties. These include anxiety, depression , eating disorders, OCD, trauma, and emotional regulation difficulties (including personality disorders). I welcome clients to my home for therapy sessions and appreciate how important it is for people to feel comfortable and at ease in a homely and supportive place in order to explore and express such personal and challenging issues as can arise during therapy.

I truly believe that no matter who you are or where you are from, at some stage in your life you will experience difficulties and therapy can make all the difference. There are many issues that can feel overwhelming e.g. depression , anxiety, relationships to name but a few and I know it can feel quite scary taking that first step talking to someone you don't know. However, you will find that I am really easy to talk to, professional and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. My aim is to make a difference and have a positive impact on your well-being.

I have helped clients with mild mental health issues such as general stress to higher needs such as schizophrenia and personality disorders. I would say my expertise lies mostly with anxiety, depression and self-esteem issues. I work with the clients goals in mind, at their own pace and ability. No two clients are the same and adjust my skills accordingly. Whether you’re looking for small changes in perspective, understanding or attitude, or you want a deeper more meaningful change in thinking, behaviour and habits I am willing to walk that journey with you.

Anxiety, depression , low self-esteem, a feeling of a loss of direction or purpose, or difficulty with building meaningful relationships with others are some of the symptoms that point us to something deeper: an inner conflict between our historical habits and feelings and the emergence of our authentic self. My approach allows for the body, feelings, mind and spirit to be included, meaning the whole being is considered. Each person I work with is an individual and their experience and dilemmas are valued as such.

There maybe times in our life where we need a safe, supportive environment so that we can explore our troubles and feelings without fear of judgement. Having a listening ear and being truly heard can really help us to get a better understanding of these troubles and aid us to develop ways to move forward in our lives. Sometimes having a confidential space to do this with someone who is independent of the situation is all that's needed. It takes courage to talk to a Counsellor but the rewards are usually worth it. Depression Counsellors
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy by depression counsellors in Cardiff. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
