Hello, welcome. I can imagine how difficult it must be searching through the profiles trying to find the right therapist. Making the decision to seek help for your child/grandchild is a brave one and sometimes it can be difficult. I have been told by clients that I am calm, warm, welcoming, and approachable; and can put them at ease. I am a Child and Adolescent Therapist who specialises in 7-25 years olds who until recently worked in CAMHS for the NHS for over six years. I decided to work in private practice after seeing so many children whom I could help turned away by CAMHS or who were waiting a long time to get help.

You might look like you’re managing on the outside, but inside there’s persistent overthinking, anxiety, and a sense of running beyond capacity. I work with people who are mentally and emotionally exhausted and close to burnout, often shaped by long-term masking, people-pleasing, and high internal pressure to keep going even when it feels like too much.

Counselling can be a scary prospect and I understand that finding a therapist can be a daunting process.
We'll use this time to get to know each other and to see whether we are a good therapeutic fit.
This will be done in a safe, non-judgemental space where we can go over the contract together. It will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have around the counselling process and discuss any goals that you would like us to work towards.
You are under no obligation to continue counselling with me.

I work with both individuals & couples, in person & online, focusing on creating a safe, trusting space where you feel heard, understood & valued. I recognise how important it is to work collaboratively with you, at your pace and towards your goals, using my skills & experience to support you on your journey. I have a passion for words, & will help you tune in to how the words & phrases you use towards yourself, & others, impact on your sense of identity & how you relate to the world around you. I also work creatively as it can be difficult to articulate our feelings & struggles with words alone.

I have trained as an integrative counsellor, and believe that therapy can help us evolve from surviving to thriving. I became a counsellor for many reasons, but fundamentally because of the powerful way in which counselling can help you take back control of your life story; tomorrow does not have to be like yesterday. I can offer you a calm space to explore what feels safe to you until you are ready and I will not make assumptions about the individual struggles you are going through. I work with the full belief that it is possible to find a way through your experiences and re-gain that sense of who you are.

I am a qualified Therapist with 8 years of experience working within the NHS mental health, addiction & Trauma pathways. The key to my work with clients is the belief that, through a psychotherapeutic relationship, we can gain insights into our patterns of behaviour. Working relationally, we can explore the possibility of change and begin to consider alternative positions that lead towards a more compassionate and fulfilled version of ourselves. My primary modalities of working with my clients involve addressing the unmet needs of our life experiences in early years, exploring the relational needs that may have been left unattended.

How does art therapy work?
The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.
Does art therapy help with trauma?
Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.
How long does art therapy last?
The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.
What are the limitations of art therapy?
Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
