But lately, you’ve felt worn out but also wired, anxious beneath the surface.
I've been there. That's why I specialise in working with health and social care professionals who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or burnt out. When you’ve been holding everything together for so long, it can be hard to imagine what letting go might look like. So take off your lanyard, and let's focus on you and your needs for a change.

I have experience working in an agency setting with a diverse range of clients and presenting issues, including anxiety and depression.
I offer counselling in a warm, non-judgemental space where you can pause and explore what’s going on for you. I follow your lead and support you to talk about whatever feels important to you, at your own pace. My approach is Humanistic Existentialism, which places you at the centre of our work. Together we can explore how you’re navigating life, what matters to you, and the expectations placed on you by others and by society. I believe you are the expert in your own life, and my role as a counsellor is not to give advice, but to help you develop deeper self-understanding and a stronger sense of how to live more authentically.

Hello there! I'm Sam and I've 20 years' experience in mental health and a lifetime of experience managing ADHD! Many practitioners have no lived experience of ADHD and ASD, making it hard for neurodiverse people to feel truly understood. As a professional neurodiverse woman, I have found that services for people like me are hard to find and so I offer ADHD and Autism specific counselling with life skills (like coaching but specifically related to ADHD symptoms) in a non - judgemental and shame free environment, no matter your background. Please check your spam folder for my email replies if you have used the contact button!

I have worked for the past few years as a school based counsellor and therefore I have extensive experience of working with children and young people, although also have experience of working with adults - particularly those suffering from bereavement, anxiety, relationship and identity issues.
I understand that finding the right counsellor is so important and this is the first step to having someone who will walk beside you on your journey. If you chose to work with me, you, as the client will set the agenda and decide what you would like to use your sessions for - they are your sessions, not mine! We will work at the pace that you feel most comfortable with and work together to establish a therapeutic relationship that ensures you feel heard, understood and supported. I am able to offer face to face sessions in my therapy room in Barry or online via Teams or Zoom.

I have experience working with trauma, life transitions, bereavement, relationship difficulties, anxiety, and depression.
Hi, I'm Jade. I work with people who find themselves at a point where life no longer feels familiar — often following a significant change, loss, or life transition. You may feel disconnected from who you are, unsure how you arrived here, or struggling to make sense of what you’re experiencing. You don’t need to have clear answers before starting therapy; sometimes simply knowing that something feels out of balance is enough. My approach is person-centred and holistic, meaning I place your experience at the centre of our work and move at a pace that feels right for you.

I currently work within the NHS as a High Intensity Therapist, working with people experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and more complex or longer-standing mental health difficulties.
Hi, my name is Emily, and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. Coming to therapy can feel like a really big step and may feel overwhelming, especially if you’re not sure where to start or have a number of things on your mind. For me as a therapist, it’s really important to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel comfortable and able to go at your own pace, with no pressure to open up before you’re ready. I work in an integrative way, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), including trauma-focused approaches where appropriate, alongside stabilisation, emotional regulation and grounding techniques.

Clients may come to counselling for a variety of reasons anxiety, low mood, loss, relationship difficulties, or simply a sense that something isn’t right.
I founded The Listening Space because of my vision and belief that everyone deserves a calm and supportive environment where they can talk freely and feel genuinely heard. For many people, life can at times feel overwhelming, uncertain, or stuck, and The Listening Space offers a safe place to pause, reflect, and explore what’s happening.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?
Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

What are the most common types of treatment for anxiety?
Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?
The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?
Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
