There can be many obstacles for children during their development. These can be varied and can include developmental difficulties such as autism, illnesses within a family unit, separation and divorce, or difficulties with learning. Many children and young people will navigate these issues, however others may present with difficulties with sleeping and eating, or behaviour that is challenging for a family or school; or they could present with symptoms of anxiety and depression. When this happens, families can feel confused, frustrated, isolated and misunderstood.
Often people may feel wary meeting a psychologist, believing that they will be “blamed” as parents, but this is far from the truth. My aim is to work alongside families, to hear their stories and experiences and aim to help them understand and make sense of what is happening for their child and how they can support them.
My therapeutic work is varied working with infants up to young people who are aged 18. My interventions are bespoke as I believe there is not a ‘ one size fits all’ approach. Therefore I can work with an individual child, their family or with a wider system such as a school.
