Through a dedication to the psychoanalytic process, I am able to help my patients to process painful feelings. gain insight and to begin to build a richer, more integrated sense of self. By exploring past experience, and current thoughts and feelings my aim is to bring into consciousness, old patterns of relating, behaving, and perceiving, that lead to a psychological conflict. Psychological conflict can manifest as depression, anxiety or fears about oneself, or in some cases more extreme forms of psychological disturbance,

Psychotherapy offers a supportive space for exploring these challenges, fostering greater self-awareness, and empowering you to recognize and articulate your emotional needs. Together, we can work towards a deeper understanding of yourself and begin the journey toward healing and growth.

Change can be both unsettling and transformative. My clients often come to therapy during transitions: in careers, identities, relationships, health or life stages, seeking clarity, grounding and direction. They want to understand what's shifting, find meaning in it and reconnect with a life that feels more aligned and intentional. You may be standing at a turning point, feeling uncertain, stuck or simply ready for change. My clients reach out seeking not just relief but understanding, and a way forward that feels authentic, confident and aligned with who they are becoming.

As a clinical psychotherapist, I have over 10 year’s experience of working with patients and clients with many different struggles and difficulties. Trained as an integrative therapist, I work in a unique way that is based on your own individual needs. I believe that everyone is different and not every modality suits everyone. I know only too well how difficult life can be, yet uniquely different, we all suffer pain and loss in many similar ways. I feel truly humbled to work in this field and would be honoured to support you. You are not alone.

Hello, I'm Tamsin - an integrative therapist and coach. I've lived with chronic illness and persistent pain, navigated major breakups, and weathered overwhelming change. That first-hand experience helps me understand how disorienting and isolating big shifts can feel. I specialize in chronic pain, anxiety, low self esteem and relationship difficulties, including separations and couples work. A lot of my clients come along feeling stuck, disconnected, or overstretched. My goal is to hold a safe, non-judgmental space where we can explore what’s hard and begin to untangle it together.

I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy to adults. Whether you harbour interest in the unconscious because you noticed repetitive patterns in your life and have no clue how you always get there, or psychodynamic work is your last resort in a series of interventions - dedicating time and effort to a deeper process might be a sign that you decided to put more value on yourself. To all that you are – the successful professional, or the caring parent and a partner, but also to those parts of your being that are usually excluded and feel unrecognized or unappreciated, who often suffer in silence the burden of “carry on”.

You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected, or worn down by what you’ve been carrying. Perhaps you’re struggling with difficult emotions, the impact of past experiences, ongoing stress, or problems with sleep. You might want space to talk openly, understand yourself better, feel more at ease, or move beyond patterns that no longer serve you. You may be looking not just for symptom relief, but for deeper change, clarity, and a greater sense of wellbeing.

Life can be challenging and difficult at times. Psychotherapy offers a space you can gift yourself — a space to be held, supported, and invited into new possibilities. I provide a safe, open, and thoughtful therapeutic environment where you can slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore what feels important. Healing and growth often come through relationships in which we feel seen and understood. Difficulties and struggles can point us toward parts of our lives that are calling for attention, though this is not always easy to recognise when we are in the midst of them.

Looking to learn more about yourself? Would you like to address a particular mood or thoughts that are consuming your mind? Our unconscious mind can influence us more than we think... "what you resist persists" If you are tired of feeling stuck, going around in circles trying to figure out how to make the “right” choices for yourself, feel more balanced and mindful, then is time to take actions. In our sessions we would work together exploring meaning beyond current and past situations to support awareness and inner freedom so you can achieve your goals and choose to become who you want to be .

The world is not made for me - does this notion sound at all familiar? It does to me and I know it to be a common experience, especially for those who hold marginalised identities. Hi, my name is Julia, it's good to have you on my profile. I am a London-based fully qualified Gestalt psychotherapeutic counsellor working in person, outdoors, and online. I have been trained to work with a wide variety of issues and have a particular interest in working with those who have experienced systemic oppression. Being a physically disabled person myself, I have lived experience of what it is like to live in a world not designed for you.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
