Many of us encounter struggles and curve balls that life may throw up for you. These may present as relationship issues, low moods and anxieties, addictions, a lack of motivation or purpose or meaning, or a sense of loss or not belonging. Your coping mechanisms may be overwhelmed and it is hard to understand your situation, or how to deal with these challenges. To address these issues, your goal and starting point may be to seek the support in a safe environment. I work with individuals and with couples.

In therapy I work with people to look at, understand and transform the disempowering beliefs they hold about life and themselves. People often find themselves stuck, lose meaning in their life, struggle with relationships, misplace a sense of who they are. I also offer a safe environment for people to look at their anger, including parental anger. I believe each one of us has got a collection of fears, anxieties and vulnerabilities collected since birth. No doubt we deploy any possible resource to defend against or ignore them. I find that psychotherapy's goal is showing a path to a lighter, more peaceful and vital way of being.

Do you ever feel anxious, numb, or like you’re carrying a weight you can’t quite name? Many of the people I work with describe feeling stuck, distant from themselves, or quietly believing they’re not good enough, a feeling that echoes through their relationships, work, and inner world. Sometimes they’re navigating grief, loss, or a painful ending, or carrying early experiences of neglect or disconnection that have left them feeling emotionally overwhelmed.

Starting therapy is the first step in getting to know yourself a bit more so the changes you wish in your life can take place. There can be many reasons why you might be seeking therapy: from either a particular event or a long-standing difficulty or because you are interested in your personal growth. In any case, I strive to provide you with a safe and confidential space where your concerns can be explored at your own pace. I aim to help you discover, with compassion, more about yourself and foster your growth of self-awareness and authenticity so positive choices can be made.

Therapy is an investment in yourself and your relationships. It can reveal aspects of yourself that you have taken for granted, such as overworking, over-rationalizing, people-pleasing, or dismissing your own needs and emotions. These patterns emerge because they once served us at different points in life, but what may have been helpful in the past doesn’t always serve us in adulthood. Many clients are motivated to explore these unexamined aspects of themselves—what I often refer to as their 'autopilot'—and to gain greater awareness of how these tendencies shape their relationships and sense of self.

My ideal client is someone who’s deeply reflective, maybe even a bit overwhelmed by how much they feel- emotionally intelligent but often stuck in their own thoughts. They might navigating big transitions: a breakup, burnout, immigration, identity shifts, or feeling disconnected from their sense of self.
What they really need is a space where they can show up just as they are—without having to perform, explain, or feel judged. They want someone who gets it, who listens deeply, and who can gently challenge the stories they’ve been living with.
Their main goal? To reconnect with who they really are.

I am an integrative transpersonal psychotherapist and full clinical member of UKCP. Transpersonal therapy looks across our entire lifespan. What is it like to be us right now; how did we come to be this way; and what do we hope for, fear or dream of for the future? But 'trans' also means 'beyond': who, in our truest selves, are we, and what do we want, beyond all the things that we are told to be and want. The integrative part means that I have also studied psychodynamic, humanistic and existential psychotherapies, as well as CBT. I welcome clients of any or no faith, gender, sexual orientation or psychiatric diagnosis.

My clients mainly come for the major life transitions - inner and outer, intentional or naturally unfolding. In every human experience there are points at which life becomes unfulfilling and nothing seems to work anymore. The external events may reflect it (divorce, loss, illness, etc.) - or not. However, the symptoms persist and grow: anxiety, depression, apathy, agitation, irritability, overthinking, and more. Addictions may be a part of it. When a person begins awakening to who they became on all this, and ready for a shift, they find a therapist that can provide safe, professionally held and warm environment to do this job.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
