Hi, I'm Chantal, I'm an integrative psychotherapist and I support women experiencing stress, overwhelm and low self-esteem to reclaim their sense of personal agency. Many of my clients describe feeling run down by life, drained, overwhelmed and disempowered, to a point where it is impacting their quality of life. If this is resonating, I'm so glad you've found your way here. Together we can explore what's going on for you, what you need right now, and how you can create more ease and balance within your life.

Contacting a therapist might seem daunting at first but therapy can provide a confidential and non-judgemental space to make sense of current concerns. Speaking in confidence can help you less burdened and enable you to work towards living a more fulfilling life.

I have 17 years experience of offering a supportive, confidential place in which to make some sense of symptoms such as anxiety, stress, depression, or a sense of general dissatisfaction. You may have suffered a loss, or trauma, or be going through a transition in your life and would like to talk to a professional. People come to therapy for many reasons. I see my role as therapist as being someone who can support you in learning more about yourself, your thinking and behaviours, your relationships, and your unconscious motivations, supporting you to create meaning, and to make the changes that you feel you need.

I am someone who cares about the well-being of others which led me to qualify as a BACP Accredited Person-Centred Counsellor. My counselling method is built on person-centred counselling plus adapting to the clients’ needs and creating a unique style for each client. We tend to place such a focus and emphasis on our physical health, whether through dietary or physical exercise but can easily neglect our mental health. Our mental health is just as important as it is a part of what makes us who we are. We all deserve to have a healthy well-being and I believe that counselling is a method to which this can be achieved.

Life can be a whole lot harder and more overwhelming than many like to admit, and reaching out for support is no easy task. So well done on getting this far- you don't have to struggle on your own anymore. The therapy I offer is an opportunity to share your truth and be seen, in the compassionate, non-judgemental space I hold for you each week. I will endeavour to be alongside you with whatever it is you need to share, whatever the emotional weather. Together we will begin to question old narratives that no longer serve you and look at how you operate in the world, in relationship and how you find meaning.

I understand that reaching out for support can evoke much anxiety. I am here to work at your pace and with your agenda in a non judgemental space. I have learned that our reaction to challenges in our adult lives can often be related to our childhood experiences. Within our partnership we will be able to work through childhood trauma, attachment and how they may impact on your current mental health. I offer a holistic approach which allows clients to bring every aspect of themselves, creating a heart to heart connection. With children and Adolescence I work to support and understand their experiences and stages of development.

You may be feeling down, fed-up, depressed or anxious – or you may just feel a general lack of lust for life. Whatever it is that's currently troubling you, if it has reached the point at which it's affecting the quality of your daily life, therapy could be the first step to understanding what's going on for you and why. Coming to therapy can be an emotional 'journey' which is not always easy, however it is also an opportunity for change, which could be the beginning of living your life differently.

You don’t have to suffer alone. In fact, exploring together, we are likely to find sense and meaning in any suffering as well as signs of your unique self and your potential to live a more fulfilling life. ‘Personal Consultancy’ is the official label for the way I work, combining the best of the main talking cures (counselling, psychotherapy and life coaching). I am a Chartered Psychologist and Associate Fellow of the British Psychology Society, with almost 30 years of experience.

Sometimes it may feel as though patterns are being repeated over and over again and each time you find yourself surprised at reaching the same result. However, people are in constant motion and I hold to the notion that therapy enables self reflection and transformation driving along the process of change. In practice, I will try to ensure you experience a sense of safety in the space for us to better explore your way of being in the world and consider the importance of relationships and memory which are a transformative and pivotal part of what it is you bring to the work and are encouraged to share

I never thought I would need therapy. My relationship with my wife was great. I was the managing director of a successful company. Then life got tough and we found ourselves in crisis. Going to couple therapy together saved our marriage! We’ve been back to therapy many times to keep our relationship on course. What I learned from our couple therapy and my years of one-to-one psychotherapy transformed my marriage and my life. The results of the therapy impressed me so much I decided to change career. I wanted to offer the valuable insights and knowledge I had learned to other individuals and couples in distress.

How can I find a therapist in London?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postcode, or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
