I work with clients living with the impact of trauma whether it be PTSD, emotional dysregulation issues, relationship difficulties or other challenges.
Have you been through something distressing and never had the chance to process what has happened? Are past traumas impacting your life and making it hard to live the life you want to? In my 13 years experience working in mental health, as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist in the NHS and private practice, I have seen the profound impact that your past experiences can have on your current life. I became a specialist in treating adverse life experiences (trauma) and I have found through offering evidence based trauma therapy that people can process their past experiences and begin to live the life they want and deserve.

As a warm-hearted, grounded person I bring authenticity to all my therapeutic work. Fundamental to my approach as a therapist is to offer a relationship of equality. Instead of advising you or telling you what to do I create a non-judgmental and trustworthy space to help you explore difficult thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I place emphasis on building a therapeutic relationship, believing it facilitates change to occur and offering myself as a companion accompanying you on your journey, at your own pace, to help you gain clarity and perspective.

Hello and Welcome, Life has indeed become complex. Many of us are now struggling with our mental health in ways that are no longer manageable. Our past and present hurts, our unprocessed feelings have risen to the surface. We find ourselves thinking, feeling and acting in ways that do not reflect who we want to be. Some of us have Grief, Trauma or Addiction that we just can’t seem to work through. As a Senior Accredited Psychotherapist with a Master Degree and EMDR Accredited, I've seen thousands come through my door, with various presenting issues and undergo genuine transformation, healing and leave with hope for the future.

We all have troubling problems at times, be they emotional, personal or work-related. Sometimes these problems can feel overwhelming and we become stressed, anxious and unhappy. This can affect our confidence handling relationships, making decisions and generally, our ability to just cope with the pressures that each day brings. Reaching out to an experienced therapist will enable you to talk openly about your concerns and be listened to without being judged. For many people, this is a profound way of bringing about positive and lasting change.

Because you're here, I imagine that things are feeling difficult. Something specific may be on your mind or it might be something more general; you may be overwhelmed with anxious thoughts, depression or a sense that something just isn't quite right. Perhaps you're struggling with relationships, or trying to deal with a loss or a trauma in your life. Patterns may keep repeating and you don't know how to change them. At times, we all need extra support; there are lots of reasons why people come in to counselling. I work in an Integrative way, to help you to unpick complex feelings you may have about yourself and the way you live now.

I have specialist training & experience in trauma & PTSD including working with serving military / veterans, emergency services personnel & adult survivors of sexual violence / historic child sexual abuse.
When life events past or present become overwhelming, it can feel hard to cope with things alone & often hard to reach out to family or friends. If you are experiencing trauma & PTSD symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, flashbacks, panic attacks, anger issues, self-harm, low self-esteem, disconnection, shame, loss, isolation, we can work together at your pace to help you move through these feelings & behaviours. "Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you. Trauma is that scarring that makes you less flexible, more rigid, less feeling and more defended." (Dr Gabor Mate)

A confidential, non-judgmental space where you can explore positive and challenging aspects of your life and any change you wish to explore or make. I have personal experience in sexual, physical, emotional and mental abuse; divorce; living with a Narcissist; step-parenting and living in an Ex-pat community. The approaches I predominantly use are Solution Focused, Bowenian Systemic approach, Brainspotting or Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP). All approaches work with clients, though I have found 'Walk and Talk' or EFP best for adolescents or those suffering with PTSD or Trauma, along with Brainspotting.

Feedback - Sexually Abused Client : "I started therapy feeling scared, sceptical, lost and a little bit overwhelmed, I was afraid to be vulnerable. You made me feel relaxed and welcome, and that allowed me to be so open and honest, I didn’t feel afraid anymore. A year ago, I didn’t know who I was. I felt that everyone had their own opinions and perceptions about me, and that created a discombobulated identity for me. I could have never progressed to this point without you there to guide me and challenge my thoughts and feelings. I am so grateful and thankful to you." An empathic non judgemental safe space is my utmost goal for you.

Trauma and PTSD Counsellors

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
