Dr Tom Cawthorne is a Senior Clinical Psychologist and Co-director of the Child Wellbeing Clinic, a private multidisciplinary child & adolescent mental health service. He has previously worked at the leading services in the country, including the Maudsley Centre for Child & Adolescent Eating Disorders, Great Ormond Street Hospital and the National Conduct, Adoption and Fostering Team. He holds additional accreditations as a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist, Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT) practitioner and supervisor and is trained in EMDR and VIPP-SD. Tom is also actively involved in research and teaching.
Tom has significant experience in working with children and young people who have a range of mental health difficulties. He has a specialist expertise in supporting young people who are adopted/fostered, have neurodevelopmental conditions, complex anxiety disorders, OCD, functional symptoms, eating disorders, behavioural problems and trauma/PTSD.
This includes frequently working with young people who have not responded to previous support or have had negative experiences of accessing help. He has a warm and friendly approach and can deliver a range of therapies, tailoring support to the needs of individual families and informed by the best research evidence and national guidelines.
