Children and young people often find it difficult to talk about feelings. Some children will act out these feelings, which can lead to some behaviours that are difficult to understand. Others might withdraw when faced with difficult feelings and become quiet and isolated. Adolescence can be a difficult time, full of anxiety, uncertainty and changes. Together, we will try to understand these feelings and what might be going on. Having an understanding of these feelings and knowing that having these feelings, good or bad, is ok and can be managed will help them feel more in control of their feelings and behaviour.

My work is with children, young people and young adults who are finding it difficult to manage difficulties relating to mood, anxiety, educational challenges, exam anxiety, transitions between school and university, and both expected and unexpected life changes. In addition to this, I have specialist skills and experience in working with children, young people and adults on the autism spectrum (some of whom may also have associated learning disabilities). I also have significant experience working with looked after children, both within fostering and residential care settings.

I am a UKCP registered Family and Systemic Psychotherapist, offering: Individual, Family and Couples therapy for people of all ages and psychological difficulties. I have been continuously working in NHS since 2007. I use ideas from the Systemic and Family Therapy schools, CBT, DBT and mindfulness. I am particularly interested in Attachment Narrative Therapy (ANT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches which both concentrate on creating strong attachment and connected relationships.
